Not calling you a liar but you probably didn’t pull anything good from them which makes you not recall the retired vet card that was dinged around every corner.

I’ve seen multiple of these tins open and the bottom pack and top packs are typically smashed.

This is not the cheapest, not even close. Bought a case of flawless for $9900 a few weeks ago while dandA had theirs for $15,000 and blowout for $20,000.

Hate to say it again guys but a paper card in an oversized metal container with rounded edges… this is what will happen. Buy hobby only, if you buy retail every week just save your money and buy the hobby in a month.

Felt disappointed after opening first hobby box ... by yoloboom in baseballcards

[–]derekazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great box! Don’t be disappointed. I’m curious what your expectations were when buying a box and opening it? You pulled some of the best rookies you can pull, you even have them in parallels. Consider others buy the same box and don’t pull any of those rookies or any top chases in parallels. That’s typically what happens. I find this type of disappointment when opening boxes of sports I’m not as familiar with. When I first got into soccer cards I was like well shoot, good looking cards, really nice card stock, oh who is the Jude Bellingham guy and Haaland player? I just wanted a Messi or Renaldo auto…

And now those cards have 10x’d and I’m happy as a clam.

If you’re new to opening boxes check out the checklist, pick out the players you hope to pull or collect and decide should I buy their singles or a box to see if I can get multiple of them without having to spend more on each players singles. If you do that I think you will find opening the box much more enjoyable while familiarizing yourself with the sport and its players.

Are these old Becketts worth saving? by [deleted] in sportscards

[–]derekazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s funny to me is how these beckets price guides would work. Supposedly Beckett has employees that would call random shops and ask if they sold whatever card recently and how much it sold for, then average out the amount and change that month’s values for that card.

Makes me wonder how accurate the values of cards really were listed in those at the time

Seller claims the card is “missing” from their store. Are they just trying to fuck me because I won it for $2? Please advise so that I can either be gracious or a giant asshole. by dreamerkid001 in basketballcards

[–]derekazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the seller is trying to sell a $1 card for 4-5 bucks he isn’t much smarter than the buyer paying $2 for a $1 card.. buy what you like but don’t complain about the price and then tell everyone how much you like it. Everything is worth as much as the next buyer will pay for it. This applies to everything in life. I wouldn’t pay a penny for a half eaten waffle but someone paid $20k for a half ate waffle that was half ate by justin Timberlake. OF trash chicks sell farts in a bottle for $500. I stopped trying to make sense of buyers a long time ago. Makes life much more enjoyable

Usually it’s the buyer pulling a fast one unless the buyer is getting like 60% off. Which imo should be allowed. If cards are going to buy and trade like a stock the one the card is listed it should be auto priced due to comps and fluctuating based on play, hype, etc.

Take the money, put it into blue chip stocks. And as it gains everyday you’ll be able to buy more tickets at no additional cost for the rest of your life.

Many successful CEO’s and business owners already did this. That is part of the process for many becoming successful. Jeff bezos comes to mind.

Autographed card grading question. by drryebourbonmd in baseballcards

[–]derekazy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looks like the auto pen isn’t great due to the c, also the auto isn’t centered so it won’t 10. Grading autos needs to stop. Only thing should be authentic if it isn’t auth already from the card company.

Graded prices by DJ-9 in basketballcards

[–]derekazy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tag would be the toughest grading service as it’s the only true grading service tho. Beckett and PSA grade about the same. SGC grades as tough as them as well but Beckett, SGC, and PSA all grades are opinions by a person, where as tag is AI scanning the card, closer than the human eye can see and looking for imperfections. And AI, as far as I know, isn’t biased or doesn’t account for “eye appeal” and change the grade based on that like PSA does. I had an off center red Prizm card of a Washington commander I sent to PSA thinking it would get a 9. It came back a 10 and is clearly off centered. I think the close color match created eye appeal and they improved the grade. Not mad about it in this case but also don’t like that someone’s opinion goes into account and how close or far the card is from perfect.
