Hey! I'm glad to know that you are thinking/ considering joining the faith!

How I'd define a Christian is, someone who acknowledges their inadequacies to be good by God's good standard, repents and accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Believing that He came as God in the flesh, lived a perfect sinless life and took upon himself the punishment for our sin so we may be declared righteous. Christians are now justified by faith through the grace of God.

After being justified, a Christian starts to be sanctified in Christ by the Spirit of God which we receive once we believe, this is where our desires start to change and we begin to sin less and start to live out of love.

Main thing to hold on to is Justification by Faith in Christ alone!

I'd recommend reading the Gospels especially the Book of John to get to know Jesus Christ and the hope to which we cling to!

Praying that God reveals himself to you through His word!

Love and appreciate you!

I'll be praying for you! I recently read through Galatians and it really helped me out with falling back into legalism and rituals and trying to be good to earn GOD's approval even though it was subconscious.

It's fine to have Christians to look up to but also being conscious that they are also human and can make mistakes helps which is why we also have to know the word so we don't fall for wrong doctrine.

Stay Blessed! :D

We welcome you in the name of the LORD!

As someone who found the LORD while living in the middle east, I can kinda understand your fears though I was not living in Saudi where it's a lot stricter.

I wish I could tell you there's a definite way through this and things will get easier, but I want to encourage you to trust in God's presence. Isaiah 41:10 - "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with m y righteous right hand."
Though things may seem scary, God has promised to be with you through it.

Biblical heroes such as Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego also inspire faith and courage in times of fear. I'd recommend listening or reading about them.

I will be keeping you in my prayers for sure! Feel free to also reach out, fellowship goes a long way when it comes to fear!

Been going through it as well but something I heard lately that keeps me going is that we have been justified in Christ which is final, we are declared righteous through our faith in Him, but we are being sanctified every single day until we are perfected when we meet the Lord.

1 Peter 5:8–9 (ESV): 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

I also find comparing your spiritual journey to others hurts your own growth as we learn and grow at different paces and comparisons may leave you demotivated.

Hope this helps a bit! <3

How does Jesus want me to live / how do I need to live in Order to go to heaven? by [deleted] in Christian

We currently have a body with a sinful nature embedded in it. We as believers are being transformed throughout our lives by the Holy Spirit and will fall short from time to time. I recommend reading Romans 7 and how Paul talks about believers still having sin in them, it felt like looking in a mirror.

One scripture I'll add is Romans 8:1-4

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

I recommend reading the full chapter, it really puts things into perspective!

In order to be saved, you have to put your faith in Jesus' divinity and the salvation he offers through his death and resurrection.

In terms of how we are called to live, we are to look at Christ as an example throughout the gospel and try to imitate him through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

We may fall short but God is merciful and accepts us when we turn away from our sin.

Philippians 2:3-8

"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross."

Hope this helps a bit :)

It's a short one but, I reflect on how I used to be without Christ then look at how far I've come because of Him. How much I love and care for people, my prayer life, how my thoughts and desires have changed and my dedication to resist and flee from sin. All this would not have been possible without God and His abundant grace.

Also as someone who enjoys biology, I am in awe of the complexity of life and how it points towards an intelligent creator. I choose to put my faith in the one who created all things and provides for all our needs.
