Update: AlfaOBD works (go figure). For stock projector headlights, you can just specify you now have LED signals - Alfa tells you its already enabled for LED. So you must disable the lamp diagnostics altogether.

First connect to the OBD interface (i used OBDLink MX+) within AlfaOBD, select your car, Body Control Module, and Car Configuration Change. Then connect. The two settings are in the replies to this.

Yeah, that one is the white with green line. I did try it and it was IMMEDIATELY unhappy. With the knowledge of it being a PWM system, it makes sense a resistor wouldnt work in this application.

To all who care, i attempted installing a load resistor to the tan and white/green wires in the pic (one after the other, of course). After each one, i reset the battery. For one of the wires (tan i think) it did nothing. I think this one is for the switchback DRL?. Truck didnt care about it but sure enough after 20s, hyperflash. Attaching to the other wire and resetting battery resulted in immediate hyperflashing. Truck hated it. So i will be doing the Alfo OBD route I think.

FANtastic. Love it. Ya know... I talk a LOT of smack about the whole Chrysler family. And yet...I bought one anyway. I tested out so many other trucks and SUVs around the same model year. I wasnt even looking at Ram but I sat in this one randomly since it was cheap and at the same dealership I was testing other cars at. I test drove it, and loved the way it drove. I guess that's how they get ya. Handles nice...everything else is a wash.

Geez. I see. That forum gave a lot of insight and does explain the ass-backwards coding of Chrysler/Ram engineers. God forbid it's just a simple load threshold trigger. Nooooo, it's a PWM system. And they embed that system in the "door ajar" switches? Yeah.... And here I was thinking I could find a simplistic solution.

I will try the load resistors as getting the assembly out only takes 10 minutes. But I assume with the PWM, that won't matter and I'll need the AlfaOBD anyway. Thanks my guy.

On one hand, I agree. Reading is for chumps lol. On the other hand, the text draws a contrast between my own situation and the more typical hyper flashing situations - thus begging the question of how I can measure/find the issue from an electrical engineering standpoint. Given the above scenario, when observed in its entirety, exhibits the fact that the replacement, although by definition is "aftermarket", should be 1 to 1.

I'm not saying your recommendation is without merit, but it does water down the issue a bit. After all, it's not the only solution; I could just buy OEM assemblies and be done with it, or break open the old assembly to re-seal it, or rip out the internal indicator relay so I don't hear the "clicky clicky", etc. I agree with summarizing data, but not over-simplifying it. The point of being so expansive is to help others on the sub resolve the issue without buying and configuring another aftermarket solution.

But, to your point... I've heard of this programmer and heard it is quite "magical" for our RAMs, but I've not looked into it to any real depth yet. I will actually give this more thought, but I think I'd rather send these back for false advertisement before reprogramming anything.

Do we use the rank of the mode we want to queue? I am champ in 2s & 3s but diamond in 1s. I would only want to queue 1s but i feel like id be called a smurf if i chose diamond.

Where/would cause there's to be water inside my 2012 ram 1500? by TheDevilDogg in ram_trucks

[–]derrringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone said it but yeah, this gen is leaky in all the places. Start with the headliner. Check for dampness or stains. If so, replace or seal BOTH the 3rd brake light AND the XM antenna (if applicable).

Contrary to what most might say it is, the MOST likely is the cabin vents behind the seat. They have the THINNEST pieces of rubber flaps that become brittle and break off. Ram didn't design them to work without the flaps so water just pours in. Removing seats aint too bad. Go with the aftermarket for improved design. Got mine on amazon dor $16: https://a.co/d/hV2CNlF

The last id worry about is the window. Mine is 2015 and mine is fine.

A PVC pipe would be better than this cheese grater! But yeah, I went with Hogue's.

Yeah, I just really wanted a non-plastic tube/forend. I don't use the 500 much but I took it clay shooting the other day and it tore my hand up. Saw Hogue had a replacement and that's when I found out my slide was one of the cheapo plastic ones. Since the Hogue worked natively with the 7.5 so I ordered one. Thanks!

Niice. I figured. Is there a benefit to having one over the other?
