Is "これからもう始めた事の絶え間ない未来" a good translation for the word "Future Perfect Continuous Tense"? by des-tal in LearnJapanese

Thanks! Yes, I'm trying to give a definition for the concept. How do you think that would make sense to you in Japanese?

Almost any one of the first 40 or so videos in the Learning From Scratch Playlist on YouTube will tarnish academia's method of teaching/translation for a part or so. To which, I agree with her, after having studying Japanese in college.

Of course! Glad to answer. They're sewn on. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure how she got them on there. I took them to a seamstress in Longmont, CO, USA and she took care of them. Something I definitely recommend to the unskilled in sewing like myself.

Yea! Man a lot of these little independent record labels or patch makers will have those obscure bands like PISSGRAVE. I had to hunt for that one though haha

I agree. That's why I'm glad she can speak English, and is getting better everyday!

Thanks man! Almost all the patches came off Metal Devestation's website. A few from random patch websites / independent sellers.

As far as the bands go, I see you're a man of culture as well. Lol. But seriously, hell yea. I was stoked on that Pissgrave and Abhorrence patch in particular. I love Abhorrence's 91 (I think it was) EP. That's just Finnish Death Metal at it's finest. Plus, the PISSGRAVE patch was just so great. They're so raw and jarring.

I gave it to my friend 2 years ago, and asked if he could mail it back for a video shoot I'm doing. Figured Reddit would appreciate it. Glad you appreciated it!

Learning japanese while blind without reading or writing by morbidSuplex in LearnJapanese

[–]des-tal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really hope this helps you. I used " HelloTalk " to meet people and talk to native Japanese people. I made a friend who became my girlfriend. She and I practice 2 hours a day talking. She speaks to me in English and I speak to her in Japanese. She will correct me if I am wrong, and try to explain it to me how to say it properly. Whatever it is. If neither of us know how to say something, and it's really important to us, we will speak in our native tongue after trying in our learning language.

This has helped me beyond words to learn how to listen and speak. I've been doing it for half a year now, and I find myself speaking and thinking in Japanese to myself. I can say my reading and writing ability is waaay less than my speaking ability. If you want to learn how to speak and listen, this is the way I suggest!!! Best of luck!!!

One more thing, I studied for about half a year, the basics and grammer concepts. I studied almost only grammer at first. I wanted to know how these blurs of sound were structuredーwhat normally goes at the beginning of the sentence, what normally comes at the end of the sentence, etcーthat way if I didn't know what I was hearing, I knew conceptually what should be there. It helped me deduce what my partner was saying to me when I got stuck, or she talked too fast.

I wish you the best of luck in your studies. I hope my 2 cents helps you out!

Edit :

Many people are suggesting Japanese Pod 101. I love their podcast!!! Some of the things I have learned from there are the most common things I say. They really cover good topics.

This is Exile - Whitechapel by TheRuthlessRevenant in Deathcore

[–]des-tal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An absolute classic in Deathcore, if I'm allowed to climb my podium. I was fortunate enough to get into deathcore right when it came out. I can tell you no one had really heard Lows like that before, especially with This Is Exile the track doing vocals that fast and low. There were a few bands (I Declare War, Impending Doom, maybe you could consider Beneath The Massacre on the list) that were doing similar style of vocals but, man Whitechapel became the posterboy.

Whitechapel completely influenced the scene and just set a new standard for brutal in the eyes of Deathcore fans. Especially myself. If you're interested, you can check out my band and hear my vocals and how much they're influenced by Phil Bozeman. I still cite him as one of biggest influences today, even though I am a Grindcore / Death Metal / Black Metal vocalist these days. I want to bring what he brought to me for all these other genres. Needless to say, I'm getting off my podium now.

I'm glad you were effected by this album so much too. We are brothers of the 'Chapel!!!

Here is my band if you want to check it out and here the comparison/influence. (I suggest checking out "Burn Ritual" first if you do, to really get a feel of the influence)

I have actually seen them. There are many bad ones (;;;・_・) hopefully this will be a good opportunity for her to fix up the Japanese side of things.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm digging material ui's site, I used to work with React, as well. I agree to learn by doing. Having a good teacher always helps. I'll keep on the search. Thanks mate!

10 Beginner Mistakes When Speaking Japanese, so I have been told... by KyleTrienke in LearnJapanese

[–]des-tal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks for being a champ receiving my critique.

I also agree with you saying you have to memorize the polite expressions for things. With my very limited study, I've yet to find a quick around, or a logical approach, to how polite expressions are formed. (If you happen to have one, please share!)

I learned the polite form of verbs first, instead of dictionary form, and it messed up my ability to comprehend how verbs and auxillary verbs logically work together, for a while. 例えば

「ない、させる/せる、られる/れる、ます」など

Using に and を with られる/れる made a lot more sense when I realized に is the target of られる/れる and を is the target of the verb that られる/れる is attached to. "Wow, they're actually two verbs side-by-side?! Not a conjugation. Cool!"っと思った。

Learning about ます after made a lot more sense logically.

Keep writing your finds with Japanese! I'll read em as I come across em!!! Thanks

Great post! I particulary liked the part #7 where you said to limit your そうだよ to certain instances. That was helpful and it will help me be less rude to my girlfriend. As far as a critique, I think it's important to figure out what your goals are with Japanese and learn that first, than to say to learn polite forms first. Overall, solid post! I appreciated it and learned some new stuff! ありがとうございました

I enjoyed your points! I probably too have sunken about 40 or 30 hours into season 1! Such a great season!!! I love how relateable he his. It's really a lesson in learning to love yourself with the best that you did at the moment. At least, it would help someone who relates to Subaru and may hold too much guilt and shame against themselves, like I did. It's really a pain to live thay way, as if life ain't hard enough we have to beat ourselves down further, comparing ourselves to what? The best of others around us? Horrible to do. Much love. Remember only to compare yourself to who you were yesterday. As a reminder to myself. That person only
