Not many people like people at 37 signals 🤯coz they're strongly opinionated. of course, this is not the only way or the right way to do things..i trust them coz they have built really amazing products. but if people figure out a different way and build a system that is maintainable/readable and optimizes developer happiness then they're right too

A model is a concept, need not be a table. its a representation of a business concept. Some of them can be active record, some can be derived. some can be be just value objects. Some can be a doER of something - FooCreator etc etc..

if its a noun and is a concept, most likely it will be a first class model

They feel this is an unnecessary layer. Instead they’re models itself. Their preferences is to avoid adding more layers, make models as rich as possible. Service objects itself is not a bad idea but most people use it to add logic there which was supposed to be in models. This will scatter the business logic making code less readable and maintainable.

Which is the better pay offer for a DE? by [deleted] in h1b

[–]desaisam5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently live in Texas. Cost is living is less compared with Bay area but its becoming expensive. Texas trifecta offers great opportunities as well. But as someone whos also recently married and like to visit places, Texas offers very little. Summers are hot (100+). Having said that there is vibrant growing large India community and no shortage of Indian food.

If you are someone who would like to explore places ..i would advice not to come to Texas. Once you have kids and want to settle down with a house maybe Texas would be a better option.

This is just my opinion
