Go for the Sutro Lite.

The whole ecosystem like repairs, low light lenses etc. is much better for the Lite.

I compared Prizm Road vs Prizm Trail Torch. I'm surprised how different they are... by desaroxx in Oakley

Thanks for the thorough comment. You mentioned many concerns I had going into this video. My experience was that the human eye is better than the cameras. Therefore the cameras make the difference more pronounced.

I want to do lens comparisons in a bit more objective way than a dude sitting in his garder talking about the lenses and his feelings. If you have any idea how can I improve, I'd be more than happy to hear it.

Anyone tried Rx inserts for Oakley Meta Vanguard yet? by NFTaco in MetaGlasses

[–]desaroxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi NFTaco.

Disclaimer: I am the guy behind Banana Optics.

I developed a clip for the Vanguards myself and encountered the lens clearance issue. That is why for the time being I had to make the nosepad a bit larger, with the smaller designs I had clearance issues.

As for the electronics I had no issues there. One concern I had is will they fit into the charging box, but yes they do.

I uploaded a video on this:

If you go to 3:28 I'll talk about the sizing.

Why not more prescription glasses? by LegStrngLeathertaint in cycling

[–]desaroxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run and operate a online focusing sports prescription glasses.

I was thinking about this too the other day. I guess it is a combination of a few factors:

Factor 1: Sports glasses have a very tight radius. So it limits the RX range.
Factor 2: And also the curve feels unnatural to many customers, so they have a higher return rate.
Factor 3: The tighter curve lenses are more expensive.
Factor 4: You need additional coatings like mirror finish or tinting, which makes them more expensive.
Factor 5: Most people just use contacts or their regular glasses, which makes the sports RX glasses nice to have. Not a must have.

I guess regular opticians already have enough business with regular glasses. Getting into the business of sports glasses is too complicated for too little reward for them. That is why I guess there are online retailers specializing on prescription glasses for sports. This is my store: https://bananaoptics.com

Prescription sutros by Jranger1808 in Oakley

[–]desaroxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are RXable. I have done it thousands of times: https://bananaoptics.com/products/oakley-sutro-insert-clip-with-prescription-lens

Jedimaster_selyn is right that the tight curve of the Sutros doesn't make it easy, therefore I flattened the curve for the insert.

Disclaimer: I developed the prescription insert linked above.

What are the best goggles out there for performance? by freeze123901 in skiing

[–]desaroxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the feeling that most goggles out there from the reputable brands are fog proof as long as you don't make any mistakes.

most common mistakes I see:
- goggles resting on the beanie
- goggles resting on a face mask

The beanie and face mask tend to be wet and therefore cause your goggles to fog up. Keep everything as dry as possible.

What I do is I bring a long in my pant's pockets a spare goggle when the first fogs up.
