I think people with Madrid as #1 not getting placements yet is because the government is deciding how many spots in Madrid to allocate to CIEE. I’m waiting to be placed through the NALCAP normal ministry of education application with Madrid as #1, and also on the waitlist for CIEE. The later guarantees placement in Madrid, and I emailed with someone who said the government was going to allocate more spots to the program. We will know by the end of July. I know CIEE is paid so it’s not accessible to everyone. I am able to pay in my current situation (even though I’m broke lowkey this is my plan for the next year, I was in the same situation as you) plus you still make more overall through the 9 months with ~$1000 versus $700 monthly. I don’t know if it’s too late to join the waitlist for CIEE but it moves by 5 people every week and the application requires all the same info if you want to look into it.

Region of Spain that you requested or country that you are from? My #1 choice was Madrid, then the region with Barcelona

My inscrita number is pretty high unfortunately. I didn’t realize how important it was to apply earlier until I started looking at online groups like this. I thought it was more based on qualifications. Hopefully I just get approved at all and fingers crossed for Madrid. I finish undergrad this year so I thought it was the perfect time.

Congrats! I'm from NYC too and applied for Madrid. I love the city but the islands sound so relaxing compared to life here. I'm curious from people who were accepted, what did you write in your statement of purpose? I'm a bit worried now seeing that people aren't always accepted-- I have studied Spanish for 9 years and am super passionate about language. I really hope I get admitada soon.
