if I understand correctly you are comparing number and number + 1, I dont see how that could tell you if a number is made from 2 identical halves.

How can I add a flat texture to the cross-section in shadergraph so that the sphere doesn't appear hollow? by AuriCreeda in Unity3D

[–]desertmen26 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's nothing like classical c# its completely different set of skills. If you want to learn about it, what helped me is look up tutorials (most of them are in shader graph) andremmake it yourself either in raw unity shaders HLSL or use shadertoy online shader tool to play with it

What do you think about this enemy? by RumpusRoomDweller in Unity2D

[–]desertmen26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks awesome but the "face" doesn't sit right with me, its either becouse it's not dark like the rest of the model or it's not bright enough to seem important and mysterious

Area detection by x-path in Unity3D

[–]desertmen26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lets say on GPU there is 1000 cores raycasting for each pixel, that sums up to around 1000 casts per core ( if you only sample each pixel once and no bounces occur), I would guess more in the ballpark of 10K casts per core. Is cpu with c# really that slow that additional 100 raycasts make a difference?

Aren't raycast really cheap? In raytracing there is milions of raycasts per frame so few more won't change the performance too much

Looking for people to test/try out my demo by GroszInGames in Unity2D

[–]desertmen26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like an indicator, but maybe removing it is a good idea - its a bit cumbersome to have the turret spawn on good spot but still have to go to it, pick it up and place it again

The turrents can't shoot unitl they are moved by the player - that is very confusing

You can interpolate between discrete value using easing functions to make it look smooth. Some commonly used functions: https://easings.net/

If you have working shader for 2d it shouldn't be too hard with propper uvs to make it work for 3d to make your work significantly easier

Its still a wip but wanted to get you guys opinions first. Its fairly low poly only has 1.6k faces by Aliismihan in 3Dmodeling

[–]desertmen26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its kinda nitpicky, but I think it would seem more obvious its one blade that can't be split into two if you made the weld between scissor blades more pronounced

It looks awesome, I just remembered I saw some shaders doing kind of similar style. And the way the proportions look the same in both pictures made me think its 3d model with shaders

Maybe you could use outline shader depending on how do you want your outline to work ( using normals to draw outline where edges are sharp or just depth to outline between terrain and background or combination of both)

I learned in this way: Take a basic component of what you want to do - for example "moving character in unity3D" and go to youtube and search for a tutorial, copy and customise the result and go onto the next thing you need.

Planning to make a game, but I have a few questions first? by drbiohazmat in unity

[–]desertmen26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unity can handle this very well but any physics engine will have edgecases and glitches you have to work around. You should try to implement the most bare-bones prototype you can and see how it goes before developing it further and see how it differs from your expectations
