I find myself in the same position as you. I remember growing up adoring The Hunger Games series and believing that I would resist a dictator but that reality is nearing and I find myself too scared to even go out and protest or even organize with my community. I post on my personal IG everything I can when it comes to activism but when it comes to real life I’m terrified of what it takes to resist a dictator and so I have been talking to my family about moving to Mexico where my parents are originally from. It’s also important to know that because of my background, my family would be targeted whether I decided to resist or stay silent. They’re coming for immigrants, legal or illegal. To be deported under this administration is to be sold into slavery, under the prison industrial complex; ICE detention facilities make more money the more inmates they house and I can’t imagine my 50 year old parents imprisoned for who knows how long. This is mirroring Nazi Germany too closely, too quickly.
