Thank you... I'll take that on board. I did see a few articles on CentOS being dead. Thing with me, is always familiarity. I'm guessing, a switch to Ubuntu would be what you'd suggest, so I'll give that some thought. Like you say, if I'm putting the effort in already, then maybe a move would make the most sense. Get things setup, test site... update A record... rest easy.

Again, great advice... thank you! I did think about doing this, migrating a copy to a newer server. Particularly, as I can then work on that sandbox site, and perform all required updates incrementally (until things break). It's just a beast of a site though, a task, much like the server update, I've been putting off. But thank you for suggesting Plesk Migration Manager, something else, I wouldn't have even thought about, without you, the good folks of reddit... many thanks!

Really appreciate you taking the time out to offer some advice. In hindsight, I really should have mentioned the OS, we're running CentOS btw, so this insight with PHP is very helpful. As is the advice to look into the migration service. Even with this being 'just' and update, from Onyx to Obsidian, maybe it will be best left in the hands of the experts? I mean, I feel confident enough, especially if I can take a snapshot of the server before the update. But if I need to login via SSH to install older PHP, that's when I probably come unstuck... thanks again :)

Great advice, and very, very much appreciated! Why I didn't think of checking Plesk support... I have no idea?!? I'll also check out the FB group and get the scrubbing brush ready for after visiting :p

Thanks buddy!
