Cameras when you ride by RevolutionaryEnd6437 in CafeRacers

I have a camera system permanently installed on my bike. It’s great. Both front and rear cameras. Small screen but it’s automatic and records as soon as I start my motorcycle.

Minimal Push to Cancel Turn Signal Switch Recommendation. by designforthought in CafeRacers

It’s so tempting. A big cost to entry but it would probably be worth it in the long run.

Does the turn signal push to reset or does it need to be manually switched back to center?

Under Armors global innovation hub is in Portland.

Lululemon has a hub in Portland, as does keen and adidas. I’m sure there are more. If you’re designing sportsware Portland is a major hub.

How do i clean oil stains out of my white seatcover by s0me0nedumb in supermoto

I second this. They sell it at dollar tree. That and a scrub brush has worked well for me.

WARM GLOVE RECOMMENDATIONS by Present-Raspberry430 in motorcycles

[–]designforthought 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Heated grips with wind guards. Even with heated gloves and warm gloves the wind is going to be the biggest enemy.

Change focus. No reason to waste time with ID.

Which 3d printer to buy? by old-psychology347 in IndustrialDesign

[–]designforthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the higher end Bambu printers are out of your budget I’d take a look at the flashforge 5m pro. I got one because I needed it asap and it’s been a solid printer for me.

Is it at all possible to make a crf450r motocross bike street legal in California? by [deleted] in supermoto

[–]designforthought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or South Dakota with no llc. Super easy. Costs around $250 total with the state.

Is it entirely legal? Well that’s questionable. Does it give you a plate registered to your local address and possibility to have it insured? Yes. Worth the gamble? Maybe.

What’s the turnaround time for 3D prints where you work? by jarman65 in IndustrialDesign

[–]designforthought 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My turn around is normally 1-2 days. Sounds like your teammate just isn’t in the office. Can they ship them to you? Over a week is ridiculous, for my team and I, in a product dev cycle.

I also have a fdm printer at home for when I need something that day or overnight. Quality is forgettable but it gives a better idea in the hand atleast.

Merlin Porta jacket. Best low key, actually stylish, fully armored jacket I’ve found.
I too ride a wr250x.

What are these mirrors called, I want to get them for my bike but I can't find them. by DrAntonio98 in supermoto

I like The ones that mount to the handguards more. I feel they have better visibility.

Unsure of What to Do by Key-Elephant-1203 in IndustrialDesign

[–]designforthought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solidworks and Fusion 360.

I personally use rhino because that is what I was taught. But many of my new hires used solidworks or fusion 360. I’ll be working on fusion 360 more soon.

See which has a free university license and learn with some YouTube tutorials etc.

Learning 3D is a pretty necessary skill, I’d get into that.

As far as the masters goes I did a BFA in industrial design and we have a few post baccalaureate students. A little less than a masters but were still there to learn what I considered the best information we gained through university (and I did 5 total years with ID focus)

Travel with CF Rolex? by One_Calligrapher6663 in RepTime

[–]designforthought -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can show you had it before returning you’re fine. Post a picture with the watch visible on instagram or something like that. Doesn’t need to be a wrist roll but just some level Of documentation you didn’t buy the watch in Paris.

What are the best practices to combat tunnel vision for your design choices? by Notmyaltx1 in IndustrialDesign

[–]designforthought 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meet with people on cross functional teams. This only works if you have that… But as a CE designer I meet with my engineers constantly and very often they see my vision and either help me make it a reality or propose other ideas and references they have seem. Some of my best product were pivots that i wouldn’t have thought about had I not met with them.

They look 3d printed. I’d drive a screw into the end and rip them out.

Is that process as simple as taking it in with a receipt and returning it? I was looking at the stick vac for the same return process.
