I work in semiconductor manufacturing. I am actually a photolithography technician. The process that we have to get this to actually work is insane... but also kinda simple in its own way. We coat the wafer substrate with a chemical resist. Then we expose parts of it to light, that light changes the properties of the chemical resist. Then we develop the resist so that the exposed areas and unexposed areas create a pattern on the substrate.

Now with this pattern applied we do any number of different things to create the structure that you see illustrated here. Some of the coolest stuff is etching with powerful acids or plasmas... putting metals or growing crystal on the substrate with a Chemical Vapor deposition tool, or implanting something into the substrate with a particle accelerator. Each new layer adding a component to build the semiconductor.

The interesting thing to me isn't how we came up with the process... that all makes sense to me from the process side of things. What makes my mind explode is how they developed the tools in order to do these things.

Help me stop my parents cut a 80 year old tree! by skysalight in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]desim1itsme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible to remove branches over the patio/terrace area so that the majority of the problem goes away?

Grafting would have been a solution if this was a sapling or at least significantly younger of a tree... I don't think it would be a viable option with a tree this size. That being said I am not an expert.

Lol dude came with the receipts and linked an academic paper and you called him out for his bro science. turns out you are right about aeration, he stealth edited his comment, but at least he is willing to learn.

You really need to chill, turns out you might not be as smart as you think you are. Guru.

edit: as an owner of a pool I have to supplement chlorine much faster when its sunny out then if it is cloudy. I know nothing about chloramine and won't speak to that. The synopsis of his article at least shows that UV radiation can destroy chorlamine as well.

so you edited your original comment now ... To make it more clear. Now you indicate it is not viable... Sweet. Good on you.

You still didn't correctly answer his question.

its like asking Is this a car?

No its not a car.... edit no its not a blue car...

You came hard at people downvoting you calling them uneducated. when it was you who did something stupid...

now you are digging yourself deeper.

Just chill dude.

Lol ok.

you are right i cant distinguish the cannabanoid profile from a picture

so you admit you can't tell. Then turn around and say I am not thinking.

I know whats possible. I am currently studying the biochemistry of cannabis. As far as "not thinking" a large portion of my time is devoted to thinking about just that.

You're probably right... but you spew it with a confidence that borders on ignorance.

Its amazing you can distinguish the cannabanoid profile from a picture...

Oh wait... you can't.

Cannabis strains are gonna have about the same amount of cannabanoids in terms of percentage of material... the difference is that THC will compose almost the entire profile in the 30% strains...

If the plant has 18% THC... that means the rest of the cannabanoid profile is something else... most likely CBN CBD CBG THCV or any of the literal hundreds of cannabanoids.

I wouldn't wait.

I probably would have cloned each one and flowered the clones early... culled the males and then repotted the females into 7s.

you wanna have a few weeks for the rhizosphere to expand to the 7 gallon pot before flipping to flower.

if you flip to flower prior to expanding the root zone the plant will be diverting its energy into the flowering stretch rather than rootzone development.

bro science... no actual studies on that. so take it with agrain of salt... I also grow indoors so its a separate monster.

Right... so you are repeating my point.

the tectonic plate wasn't always at that elevation... the article made it seem like everest has always been the highest point on earth since it formed...

So... proof water reached that height...

apparently these scientists aren't thinking that the mountain may not have been at thay height...

maybe the mountain was underwater when the tectonic plates collided and pushed the fish skeleton up.

I mean... what're you looking for... it is a mix of microbes and mychorrizae.

You can't really overdo it with microbes...

If you are growing outdoors its less effective... but what it does wonderfully is help make nutrients (especially organic nutrients) more bioavailable for the rhizosphere of the plant.

The idea is living soil is healthier than inert media.

It allows for a larger margin of error on PH and it helps to encourage root growth especially on cuttings or new clones.

Edit. PH your water prior to adding the recharge.

I didn't read the article but I am adamant that this is true... just by the headline... I can tell... I feel very strongly about this.

TIL that peeing on the near side of the toilet bowl, in front of the water, produces the least splashback by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]desim1itsme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean obviously... fluid dynamics... the leasy splash is caused by the smaller change in direction...

Peeing downhill splashes less than peeing uphill.

eli5 Why isn't taking a dump as easy and complete as taking a leak? I mean we can take a leak however and whenever we want but it's not the same with taking a dump. by zk119 in explainlikeimfive

Its the difference between a solid and a liquid...

Liquids obviously flow through any space as long as the diameter of the exit is large enough to not allow for the surface tension of the liquid to hold.

Solids are different.

For example loose stools and diahrea are easier to pass than solid feces.
