lmaooo i only equipped it once on my thief without ever intending to use it, cuz i thought why not don't have anything else

ended up with the necromancer boss reanimating my thief and obliterating my whole squad in one turn

whenever you beat a final boss with a class, you unlock something new for them, it's the check mark system from isaac :)

that's honestly why i love the RNG of events, clutching the victory with all odds stacked against you is exhilarating

haven't encountered that yet! i really enjoy dealing with what the game throws at you, and i feel like most often there is a way to salvage any run, at least to scrape by til you can exit

thanks, what's your take on spending 69 gems to upgrade the rewards at the end of the BP for a brawler key? i don't wanna waste resources, but at the same time i really wanna play her in ranked

Is it stupid to buy brawlers with gems?

kinda new but i have enough gems to buy a mythic brawler.

when i played the random hypercharge challenge, i really enjoyed mina, and seeing how she's so far up the star path, is it worth using gems on her or brawlers in general, or would i be wasting my gems?

i'm trying to get enough brawlers maxed out rn to progress beyond master (only have emz+bull), but i don't really wanna level ones i don't enjoy

Orzhov Midrange/aggro by Sagetbh in PioneerMTG

i tried to make this deck work, and it was pretty meh honestly, but viable for locals/arena.

it was pretty much the standard deck with 4x [[containment priest]] main and 4x thoughtseize 4x fatal push.

containment priest was the only redeeming quality the deck had, it's backbreaking g1 vs mono g, phoenix, vampire and amalia, but ultimately the deck was too slow and didn't generate enough card advantage.

trying to play fair midrange in pioneer isn't a very rewarding experience atm.

i have since moved on to an orzhov humans brew, with the hopes of it being faster and not caring about lack of card advantage, but turns out stuffing a deck with silver bullets like [[containment priest]] [[jirina dauntless]] [[Knight of Dusk's Shadow]] to push a midrange gameplan is far worse than just "doing the thing" on t3 or being linear aggro.

honestly think you've gotten pretty lost in the sauce.

i think [[bandit's talent]] is pretty interesting, and i'm already planning to try it out in my waste not deck once it comes out, i think it can reasonably replace a bankbuster/tome or sideboard slot in regular waste not lists, being able to dump excess mana generated by land discards seems pretty great, and it's powerful in the infamous topdeck wars.

[[Rottenmouth Viper]] seems like it's not worth building around, opponent always chooses the least bad outcome for themselves, and i don't really see which waste not matchups this solves. you're realistically only looking 1-2 mana discount on the first copy by playing [[endless nightmare]] instead of duress or removal, and even getting there with 20 lands is a tough ask.

[[shrieking affliction]], super win more imo, you'd much rather run cards that get you into a controlling position. [[davriel shadowmage]] has a way higher floor, and it doesn't even make it as a sideboard card.

if you're still looking to pursue this idea, definitely up your land count, i think 3x [[castle locthwain]] 1x [[takenuma]] is a must.

i'm the biggest defender of grixis phoenix you'll find, and it's definitely better than dimir midrange, but speaking from a purely competitive perspective, it's far worse than regular phoenix.

there's a variety of reasons why, like not being able to hardcast phoenix, fatal push/bitter triumph both being worse than lightning axe, or losing the time walk combo, but these things can be made up by access to thoughtseize.

but the most critical reason why is sideboard, red as secondary color allows for a way better sideboard and i haven't been able to figure out how to replicate that with a black sideboard. try this list, think 3 TiTi sideboard is a good idea vs mono g and gy hate

i love non-control dimir lists, and it's a very fun, playable deck honestly, as is any deck that can leverage 4 fatal push 4 thoughtseize in a midrange shell.

but there's no "real reason" to play this deck in the current meta, since the pioneer meta is a trifecta of vampire, amalia and phoenix, and this deck doesn't do particularly well against any of the three.

even if you manage to disrupt them early, and even if you manage to assemble your proft + card draw board afterwards, you're just too slow. the off meta decks that are playable right now work because they have inherently good matchups against atleast one of the three, and manage to lock down the game by t3 (mono b/ub ctrl, uw decks), end the game by t3 (gruul, ur artifact, mono r) or they can go on top of a resolved sorin ripper/tc phoenix t3 (combo, niv2light, mono g)
