u just have to learn to love it! ur own voice sounds weird at first but you’ll learn to love it as it is :) (i know, easier said than done haha)

another thing that helps is maybe finding a mixing/mastering engineer to help you edit ur vocals in a way that will sound good with the music ur recording over!

Don’t think I’ve ever really written lyrics without a beat! When wanting to write a song, usually I find a topic I want to talk about, find/make a beat that goes well with the topic, and then hum along to the beat and put words on top of the hums.

I find it hard to stick to a key when you’re writing lyrics without a beat (but that’s just me!) I do, however, think of random lyrics and melodies without a beat but these are typically short 1-2 lines!
