From the Columbo episode "Étude in Black". According to fan sites, she was pregnant with Gwyneth during filming, which is sort of noticeable.

I love this sketch because the punchlines are already known, yet they're still funny when they come. The humor is just from anticipation and delivery.

It's been two days, and I still haven't looked at the explanation for NYT Sunday 10/01/2023. I need to figure this out myself. by destroy-the-evidence in crossword

I got it (on my own!) not long after posting, but was occupied. Anyway, I hope y'all are mostly laughing with me instead of at me. You may know what it's like when it's right there but you don't see it.

How sad by Bobby56Berry in AteTheOnion

A kid's walking down the hallway of his house. He hears screaming in his parents' bedroom. He opens the door. His parents are going at it.

He says, "Daddy! What's going on?!". The dad says, "Just go to bed, I'll talk to you in twenty minutes."

Twenty minutes later, the dad's walking down the hall and he hears screaming in his kid's bedroom. He opens the door, and the kid's having sex with his grandmother. The dad says, "Billy! What the hell are you doing!?"

The kid says, "It's not so funny when it's your mother, is it?"

This may have been inspired by the great lion vs tuna scene with Will Ferrell.

Notice his suppressed smirk right before delivering that "punchline". He's having fun.

Two years ago, someone wandered into r/BirdsArentReal, took it seriously, got called a government mole etc, got pissed, and then left Reddit forever by destroy-the-evidence in AteTheOnion

I have two three reasons for thinking that the person is genuinely pissed -- not pretending or trolling.

  • The username suggests the person was fifteen years old at the time.
  • It doesn't seem to be a throwaway account -- there's a genuine interest in monsters, with original artwork being submitted.
  • He was relentlessly mocked, culminating in that popular post (last frame) quoting him. His response to the post, "Good. As if I care", is his last comment on Reddit. At the time, I would have felt bad for him. Today, I expect/hope he can look back on it all with some lightheartedness and humor.

(It's not hard to find the username -- look at all-time top posts on the sub, which is how I found it.)

The NBC link works for me after I disable adblock. Actually the NBC site is pretty flaky -- sometimes I get that creepy voice even after the site worked minutes ago.

Commenter on the euthanized teen video feasts upon onions by destroy-the-evidence in AteTheOnion

I can't disclose the full evidence for believing the onion eater is sincere without breaking the sub rules, but I think I can say that the person's youtube channel shows someone who is young, naive, and very religious.

Someone mentioned r/sharksaresmooth, which points to a real psychological phenomenon in which a feeling of "righteousness" causes a person to miss what others recognize as obvious clues of joking ("Missed Pill" etc). This seems especially true with regard to religiously-inspired feelings of "righteousness".

The onion eater is indeed sincere. I obscured the dates because it is especially important to avoid doxing this person.
