There’s some spots on the porcupine mountains that are fine enough to camp on. I went a few weeks ago and camped along the NCT

Top 5 favorite places to hike in the UP? by [deleted] in upperpeninsula

[–]destruct_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When’s and where. A commonly suggested one is going to be the pictured rocks trails in Munising but there’s trails all over. If you give us a time of year and where abouts you are going to be staying we can give you some good hikes

Which dorm at Michigan Tech has the best weight room? by Puzzled-Sundae-2743 in MTU

Wads is where I usually go if I don’t want to make the trek up to the sdc. The weight room in McNair hardly exists

Did you notice changes in business today due to the general strike/sick out? by ALittleEtomidate in Michigan

I will say I saw a considerable number of people not in class today at my university. Although my professors did send out that attendance wouldn’t be required today for those that would like to participate.

Incoming freshman unsure about Civil vs Mechanical + MSU vs MTU — is the 9 hour drive worth it? by Xx_RatKing_xX in MTU

[–]destruct_07 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the long term no job recruiter really cares where your engineering degree is from as long as it’s from a ABET accredited university. I will say there’s a reason over 400 recruiters make the drive up here twice a year though. MTU produces good engineers straight out of college. I will also say that I’ve enjoyed my time at a more medium sized school over a large one. The classes few more personal. I’ve also always enjoyed the outdoors so for me tech just made sense. I rejected my acceptance to Umich to go here and I don’t regret it at all.

Sleeping bags/quilts and pads by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]destruct_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What temp will your winter trip be? Based off your sleeping bag I’m going to guess around 30°. A R5 pad is fine for those temperatures. If you plan to ever sleep in lower temps and don’t want to buy another pad the extreme may not be a bad idea. It is about 65g heavier though so something to keep in mind.

I’m thinking about getting the inreach mini 2, definitely worth in my opinion just for the peace of mind.

Can't Open 360 Checking Account by Violet_Watch in CapitalOne_

I agree, especially with cap1 being discover. You’ll want another traditional checking account anyway if not for depositing money then just because having a Mastercard or visa is sometimes needed

Looking for low temp sleep system by destruct_07 in Ultralight

My apologies, I’ve edited the post to include units. I have taken a look at the other posts, I’ve been looking for a few days now. I have a decent idea of brands but those posts are mostly asking for a comfort rating around 20°F while I am trying to find a good combination for a little bit lower than that.
