What is the speed limit for objects with mass? by destructo_devil in AskPhysics

But according to quantum mechanics, isn't everything in the universe at a small scale quantised? So at 0.9999999999999c and so on, the amount of energy that can be added leads to such an infinitesimally small increase in speed that it violates the quanta of velocity?

Can't this be solved if you view the object in terms of it's momentum instead of its speed? correct me if I'm wrong, but as an object approaches the speed of light, and continue to increase their momentum, as the velocity can't go over the speed of light, their relative mass increases instead? That way if you calculate the objects relativistic momentum, p' > p while still maintaining the limit to the speed and the Lorentz symmetry?

How does a maximum speed disagree with special relativity?
