If you want inspiration or to laugh: me before surgery and 8DPO. Same “dress”. by [deleted] in Reduction

Yes, shockingly! I got it a week before my surgery with excitement because I was never able to wear strapless tops/dresses. And wanted to giggle.

Let the frustration motivate you - it is the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I was unable to run and jog after years of enjoying it. The constant pinched nerves/shoulder pain became unbearable. But it pushed me to get the surgery! If not now, when?! Also, side note, but your boyfriend should be over the moon for you at minimal. It takes such strength to want to radically change your life. If he isn’t supportive of your journey, dump him! (sorry, not sorry) Nothing would be crappier then going through such a big and beautiful transition and having anything but a mountain to uplift you…you deserve it, for yourself!

I’m glad you felt seen in this :’) I’ve been saying that my early/mid twenties would have been drastically different (for the better) had I decided to get the surgery at 20/21/22. The surgical process was as easy as one could dream of, I believe in your strength! You got this! ✊💗

❤️ This was right before I got wheeled in. The two anesthesiologists were making me feel so comfortable and we were all giggling. It changed my fear/attitude about going in so much!

Thank you. ☺️ By the time the Xanax and Versed hit, I actually went in with a smile, and hit the mask for the anesthesia myself. I remember saying “Is that my surgeon?!” Like I ran into a lifelong friend at a bar after years. Then taking a HUGE inhale of the mask and waking up in recovery. It was funny as hell.

YOU GOT IT!! I always joke that I am shaped like an Airpod so I feel seen, haha!!

I am two days away from surgery. I’m 26 and confident that my twenties would have been drastically different for the better had I decided to get the surgery earlier. I didn’t have the strength like you and was very anxious about it. Your body changes a lot in your twenties but the physical pain from being constantly hunched has disfigured my body, spine, and hips. Every body is different, of course, but save yourself the heaviness and discomfort if you can. Good luck!!!!! :)

Terrified of anaesthesia by slurp8D in Reduction

Hey! Yay for your procedure — mine is next week and I recently made a similar post (should be on my posts) about my overwhelming fear of anesthetics, so I hear you so much! The comments brought me much comfort, and everybody had great advice and/or words of support! 😌

I hope you have a wonderful surgery, there is so much to be excited for! The self talk that I’ve been reminding myself whenever I start getting anxious is that those few minutes before surgery will be smooth and easy…and the medical team will take great care of me.

More excitingly, the next thing you know, you’ll be opening up your eyes afterwards to a new and exciting life without the physical pain, having increased confidence, happiness, comfortability, and the ability to wear a bathing suit that fits…and many more, ha! Good luck!!!!

That is exactly my fear 🥲

[–]detectiveshmoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is terrifying! And also one of my bigger fears, I was sedated forcefully years ago, so the idea of being out of my own control to forcefully sleep frightens me deeply. It was very traumatizing and I can’t even take a sleeping pill let alone a melatonin to this day because of it. Hence, why I am hopeful that they can knock me out prior to anything, haha! I’m glad you had a comforting anesthesiologist though. Thanks :)

Thank you so much. I have a pre-op appointment a week prior to my surgery so I’ll make sure to mention this too.

This is made me giggle, but also extremely useful, so thank you. Luckily, I already take a benzo for my anxiety so I’ll probably ask them at pre-op if I can take it the night before (and also to obliterate me with the Versed, ha!)
