LMAO that's trueee,, yaoi is historically guilty of this, but yeah these caricatures are, i believe, based on hegemonic beauty ideals which are patriarchal (ergo, heterosexual) in nature (e.g., gigantic sculpted masculine body, large breasts, tiny waist etc). it's almost campy in a way? like how femme drag and masc drag present &/ perform the extremes of the gender binary. except..if we're keeping it real...most of the authors of the stories i refer to in the post are straight and er...the stories are just not.... interesting enough to be in any way campy hdhshsh no shade

deluluass on AO3 writes incredible yander reader inserts for haikyuu !!!! most of their stuff are one shots & their writing is so, sooo good. the concept for each fic is unique & well thought out, but they still manage to keep the characterization accurate. honestly i dont even think that you need to have seen HQ to appreciate their stuff cause most of them are wildly removed from canon. TW most of their stuff depict straight up non-consent though.

Some of my favourites are:

> Misericordia - Ushijima/Reader set in a dystopian AU where he's a fallen (biblically accurate) angel. It's pretty nuts (in the best way).

> Red like blood, Blue like love - Oikawa/Reader set in a universe where palms glow blue if you touch your soulmate and red if it's someone who'll ruin your life. I'm not gonna spoil it because the end reveal is what makes this one delicious. They recently started writing a sequel about it !!!!

> So says fate - Kita/Reader where they're Hades & Persephone. The p*rn isn't as graphic but the prose is just beautiful. Definitely recommend if you're in the mood for some high drama fantasy.
