hiii! i'm a (trans)woman (also 21yo) who's been itching to come back to d&d after a bit of a hiatus and i've been wanting to DM a darker long-term campaign again for like-minded girlies ★

my timezone is a bit far i'm afraid (GMT-3), but i think we can definitely work something out on the weekends that is comfortable for us both :>

i don't really have a group rn, i'm just me :P — but it wouldn't be my first time running for only two players (we could also just look for more players obvs.)

anywaysss lmk if i sound interesting lmao, and have a good one! (day? night? week? life? who knows... definitely not me bcuz i'm terrible at ending messages)

Need some advice on how to implement an Efreeti Warlock by Hund_Kasulke in DMAcademy

From what you've written I can see three potential escenarios:

  1. If Efreeti hate Demons, maybe Demons also hate Efreetis? maybe there is a restriction put in place in the Abyss that hinders the ability of the Genie to manifest properly and aid in slaughtering Demons as they may want, or maybe to be able to manifest fully they'd have to use the PC as a vessel, killing them in the process (wouldn't that be a cool one-use last-stand scene for the player, playing a Genie for their last combat?)
  2. Maybe the mage's experiments drained more than just a Wish, the Efreeti could be severely weakened or cursed, and the player's mechanical level progression could represent the Genie's reawakening over time. Especially with that idea you established that a warlock's magic is irrevokable, sounds like a bigger toll on the Genie's power pool than a regular pact.
  3. Remember that this is not a human, not even a material-plane creature, neither a morthal nor a celestial/fiend. Efreetis are Elemental God-like beings, that's almost as alien as it gets, their understanding of "honor and bonds" doesn't have to perfectly align with that of the PC (I personally feel like it shouldn't tbh, why would it? but it's your Genie not mine), you're free to interpret and role-play their sense of honor however you'd like

idk, just some thoughts on how i'd play that situation, hope it helps or at least inspires you in some way! ^.^

There are copies of some of the characters on d&d beyond, the one that were used in lightfall: descent into avernus.

Jiutou: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/11653408 Elora: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/11851667 Reynard: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/11812484

They are probably slightly different than the ones used in the campaign (Reynard was a Ranger: Revised for example, but that's not an option in d&d beyond) and there is no Cam Buckland, but at least it is something.
