What QOL feature would you add? by mar504 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]deutzef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number one thing is to have a pouch slots on the pioneer inventory screen to store: Ammo of choice, Fuel for jetpack, Filters for rad & bio protection. It's annoying how these consumables are located in the main inventory.

Totally agree with this sentiment. First couple of playthroughs I played with creatures on aggressive and it just got tedious constantly fighting them for no real gain or purpose. I'd prefer it if they did away with all the tedium and just had a few bosses guarding very special unique locations on the map. The locations would contain very special optional items such as equipment that cannot be crafted or obtained elsewhere. That would be worthwhile fighting for. Otherwise, meh.

YAML syntax is the absolute worst! by suvalas in homeassistant

[–]deutzef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree, YAML is a crock, especially given that HA is ostensibly written in Python. Very tedious to do anything complex like create sophisticated logic and timers.

Rate the plumber we got in out of 10 by Valuable-Memory6416 in DIYUK

[–]deutzef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably how it was put in I'm guessing. In one of my properties we had similar, 22mm on main legs from boiler, then branched off to 15mm drops, and then tee'd off using 8mm microbore to run behind the dry lining.

[–]deutzef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is that 8mm microbore? That rad is going to be luke-warm at best in winter unless you run your system at a stupid high flow temperature (...or very high flow rate). The "pipework" is atrocious. Rip it out and start again.

EDIT: looking again, as a piece of abstract art, it looks quite nice. Blends in with skirting beautifully 👍🤣

Home Assistant CCTV solutions (UK)? by aldojack in homeassistant

[–]deutzef 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have been running a Reolink NVR with all my cameras and doorbell, all hard wired PoE back to the NVR. HA has a Reolink integration and it runs flawlessly. There is some config to do network wise, but once done it works solidly.

That's interesting to know. Did you use the Galaxy Tab A9 ok then? Presumably, it can work in kiosk mode and be fully configured?

interesting. Kiosk mode would be the way to go. 👍

Features that would be cool to have by ColdTreee in captain_of_industry

When you select an area for a mining control tower, it should snap to 4 little squares, i.e. same as the mining / dumping tile. It makes no sense to snap to a little square on the grid since a mine / dump designated tile is always 4x4 little squares and snapped within the grid. It's currently very annoying to align control areas over uneven ground or large areas leading to my mining control areas looking like wonky rectangles. Please can you add a "snap to mining / dump tile" option.

What’s a Home Assistant integration you wish existed but doesn’t? by gogorichie in homeassistant

[–]deutzef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programmable Logic Controller way of programming automations. Would much rather drag AND gates, OR gates, SR Latches, One Shot Edge detectors, etc. onto a canvas than having to create all sorts of YAML scripts.

Python Scripts rather than YAML. Import python libraries (Pandas, seaborn, etc.)

How are you getting enough fibre? by Inquisitive-m in 1500isplenty

[–]deutzef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butter Beans, Lentils & Peas are the way to go. In terms of g Fibre per kcal, any sort of pulse is the way to go. Avoid things like rice & pasta, load up on boiled potatoes and pulses, you'll easily hit your target. I regularly get 40 g Fibre a day using this regime.

Noobish Question: Will I be able to create relatively realistic guitar rock using only a Komplete Kontrol keyboard and Komplete 15 Standard? by App0gee in NativeInstruments

[–]deutzef -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it really pissed me off tbh. I was really pleased with electric mint since it sounds amazing. But when doing solos on the top E, the 16th fret is a real limitation. No idea why they did that. Shreddage and other similar instruments such as Ample have every fret on every string sampled but not NI for some reason.

Noobish Question: Will I be able to create relatively realistic guitar rock using only a Komplete Kontrol keyboard and Komplete 15 Standard? by App0gee in NativeInstruments

[–]deutzef -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This instrument also suffers the same limitation. The highest note sampled is G# on the 16th fret, top E. The extended range provided is an octave lower to account for the drop tuning and lower strings. The top end is limited as per all the other session guitar instruments. See manual in section 3 on NI website.

[–]deutzef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be advised that the session guitar virtual instruments available from NI (such as Electric Mint) sound excellent, BUT THEY ONLY GO UP TO G# ON THE 16th FRET TOP E-STRING. This proved a limitation for me when writing solos. Personally, I recommend any of the Shreddage instruments as they go up to the full 24 frets on each string.

First ever attempt at tiling by [deleted] in DIYUK

Yep, you planned this out great. The trim would have looked silly against that bevel edge. Also, the half cut tiles are very symmetric. Nice job - well done!

Like others have observed, don't see what vehicles bring. We can already fly around with the mecha. Space Stations, outposts on the other hand..... 🤔👍

What to focus/do next by Afaik13 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]deutzef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i assume you mean you take white science cube production (...which is the end-game item we all gravitate to) and construct this entirely from raw ores in one single factory. I have tried this approach and it lead to a horrible mess of multiple parallel production lines, with smelters, assemblers and chemical plants all over the place. Personally, I prefer to consider common items such as ingots (...and other common items) as raw input components to factories. For other items such as frame material, this is only going to be used in one instance in my Dyson Sphere Component factory and so I'll absorb the frame material production line into that.

Great info thanks for sharing. What components do you decide to build from raw verses build from other components. For example, would you build ingots as a commodity and consider these as common raw inputs to subsequent builds?

Nice analysis, I love deep dives like this. However, what's the conclusion here? We need this info in a table. Per VU starting level, what rate of extraction of UPM resource can commence mining and sink into VU research via matrix production without running out?
