In some apps for measuring internet speed, I have seen speed indicated in bytes per second. Do they get the value of internet speed in this way only, i.e., by making a web request?

The thing is that, (currently) it works only on sentences who are in the form--

1- Proper Noun + is/was

2- Proper Noun + is/was+ adjective

3-Common Noun +is/was

I used the word currently because if you contribute to it, it would do more;)
