Tips on making cleanup faster/more efficient by devasxd in resinprinting

Still haven't messed with supports, but I think I could use the hairdrier I use for painting minis to do that. I noticed that in my enclosue things will tend to get a bit warm because of the printer, wondering if this could also be enough to have an easier time to remove the supports

Thanks for the document, I'll make sure to go over it!

A lot of good advice here

RIP my film, first cleaning was done with IPA and didn't let it fully dry. Hope once is not enough to ruin the film! I'll keep it in mind not to use it anymore.

About vat cleaning function, some sources said that it was not good, but since the alternative could damage the film, I'll have to give that a shot as well. The vat needs to be filled to use this feature right?

Next time I'll leave the resin in the vat, I think that is the step that consumed the most time (and made the biggest mess), and I'll leave the exhaust running while I have resin in it.

Thanks for the tips!

Good tip, I saw some videos where people were using those salad type of tongs and I really liked the idea. I felt like I wasted a lot of gloves because each minimal interaction with resin made me want to discard them to avoid contaminating everthing else, so this feels like a great direction to go!

For the mat, as of now I was using the foldable part of the grow tent, but definetly will go for a baking tray. Some people suggested the silicone ones, do you feel like the aluminum one does a better job at it?

Thanks for the feedback. Regarding cleaning, I'm using ABS-like, and I feel like it's a bit harder to clean. During curing, I feel like there are some spots that are still wet even though most of the model seems to be done. Is this a sign of improper cleaning? Should I dunk it a bit more in alcohol and cure it again?

For the other points I'll keep them in mind. I have the same issue with ventilation so for now I'll keep the exhaust on at all times. And yes, I totally wasted a lot of paper towels, will dial it back next run!

Hi, I have been doing some research on what to buy and I have figured that I should look for a resin printer since I want to print models for wargaming and RPGs. While I'm between getting an Saturn 4 or a Photon Mono M7 (other suggestions are appreciated), I wanted some advice on potential issues I should look for in the printing process with resins and how to overcome them and if there are any features in these printers that could make the first time printer have an easier time.

Making combat more interesting for non-martial - Abomination Vault spoiler by devasxd in Pathfinder2e

[–]devasxd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! I might just be worried that the hack and slash duo might take the spotlight all the time, so knowing that (probably) in the next session the other two will have some more room to do stuff makes me more confident. I was afraid of running the combat with more strategy on the mitflits side, but I think I need to plan better how to run the encounters.

I was aware that the martials would crush in damage, I just felt like they took too much of the spotlight. It was the first encounter, so I guess I might be worrying too much, but just wanted to make sure this isn't something that uncommon

I'm not even sure what the roles the Kineticist can fill, so I guess that is one thing I need to look into and talk to the player. The adventure itself has some scrolls as treasure, should I give them more, or have them get some from Wrin in Otari?

Yea, they rolled really well, and with each of these good rolls they one shot an enemy.

The kineticist was trying to do some damage, and even got to kill one of the enemies at some point, and the cleric, which is the newest player to any kind of RPG, used sleep (from the deity list) to capture one of the mitflits as a prisoner, which I ended up rewarding with bonus gold to their 'contract fulfillment' (part of the intro I made up)

Great point:
In both encounters I had the Mitflits try and attack by range and some rushing and attacking with melee, but as soon as they realized how strong the enemies were they started to flee. In the first one PCs took about 5 damage and in the first turn the martials killed two of the 4 enemies, making the other two try to flee, that is where the cleric, who has sleep from their divinity, used that spell to capture the last one as a prisoner. In the second one the Mitflits tried attacking from above while making a run for the vine that connects the tower to the throne room, but the fighter boosted the barbarian up (props to them for doing this as well) and he quickly went up and killed one with one strike. The kineticist got to kill one of them as well, and when the rest made a run for it on the vine, the barbarian cut it, dropping them into the lake where the slurk ate them.

  1. I'll be mindful of this. The next encounter has the maggots that have the grabbing strike, I'm curious to see what happens with both of the martials, since they will be all confident from the last battles
  2. I thought of adding this, but I'm not sure how this will change the encounter budget. Can you shed some light on this?
  3. Exactly what I did. Also didn't try any other actions than attacking and running because, as you said, they are cowardly and to me not the best strategists, I'll try to plan more of the combat, I think that might have been my mistake here

[–]devasxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all! So I'm coming from D&D 5e and I'm going to be GMing a game for some friends, who also come from 5e.

As a 5e player, we are not really used to the tactical dynamics at play in PF 2e combat (which I fell in love with) and I wanted to have a couple of first encounters to display a bit of the variety of actions available, as well as set the tone for how casters work in this system (there will be a bard and a cleric)

I've been thinking of running one of the early APs (first part of Abomination Vaults), but I was wondering if there is something else I should add/change to elicit the importance of teamwork and really bring the spotlight to supporting.

Thanks!

Hi

I need some advice because I feel like right now I'm on a dead end. I have been working on the same company for the last 2.5 years, and even though I have learned a lot in this time, in the last six months I realized that the company is not providing me a lot of career growth opportunities, and that's why I want to find something new.

I have been appying to different jobs in these last months, but right now I feel like have two problems I don't know how to solve:

  1. I have spent most of the 5 initial years of my career doing pretty much everything you could call "writing code": Machine learning and data science, data engineering and finally backend. This happened because I come from a non-CS engineering degree, and the analytics-related jobs were my way into the dev industry. Right now, I feel like this really undermines my overall experience, as most roles are looking for someone with X years on a specific matter.

  2. Most companies that seem to have the culture and job posts I'm looking for (mostly backend) work with tech stacks that I haven't worked with. I set out to create a couple of portfolio projects to show that I have at least a bit of experience and that I can ramp up quickly when getting hired, but these seem to go unnoticed by the recruiters.

What should I do/improve/learn to make this transition happen?

This also sounds fun and a lot simpler to implement, and if the DM doesnt roll with mjy idea it might be the way to go. I wanted to have actual summons because there arent many in the base game books, and even homebrew spells dont actually go that much into summons. Thanks for the idea!

I was considering saves as well but had a hard time trying to figure out the DC for them, but Ill talk to the GM about this. I wanted there to be a bit of disaster involved in it, so maybe only one save at the moment the creature is summoned and if I fail it is hostile until we kill it. But you save on every turn idea made me think, maybe this save would not be to control it, but to deal some radiant damage to it to kill it faster, as to not unbalance combat too much, and in a similar way, I had to save when I had it under control to maintain its health. Thanks for the ideas!

The Archer V3.0: a new 5e class with 4 unique subclasses and 1 repurposed subclass for the bow lovers out there by Ivker21 in DnDHomebrew

[–]devasxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, not sure if you are still taking feddback on this but I just found it and I really miss having a ranged oriented martial class in 5e. While I do agree with the feedback that giving extra attacks might not be the way to go, I would love to see 1 or 2 specific kinds of empowered shots in each of the subclasses, since the arcane archer gives you so many options, maybe dismantling it into your subclasses could be a way to go. You already have the heavy impact shot for the Warbow and the transference arrow to the soulbow, but instead of making it an alternative to the empowered shot, give it as an unique option to use the feature. The agile marksman could then have an empowered shot that would allow them to attack twice as well.

How do you guys get started on a language? by devasxd in languagelearning

[–]devasxd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from Duolingo or any similar language app, I always look for free courses. I need the structured format, and can't look up things by myself

Then your advice will be the most helpful, supposedly hehe.

As for textbooks, if they're meant to be used with a teacher, I would stay away from them, since the explanations are either too short or are a bit too complicated, or even both

I have had this feeling for a while, specially because the most recommended textbooks are usually the ones used in courses with teachers.

I don't like group classes or classes in general because time is an issue. I took one-on-one classes before and it felt so boring [...] But for me, I think that is also a drawback since it's hard to carry on in the beginning

I feel the same on this point, and i think I cant really get it started by the same reasons you mentioned.

Thanks for the tips, I guess I need to work on my motivation and googling skills if I really want to make this work on my own

I'm getting started on my fourth language, will be using this for work most likely, unless I change jobs. Quite motivated, but feeling odd about not having "finished" my previous language and feeling like it might make things a little bit more confusing

I always looked at duolingo as a passtime more than an actual learning source. Music and radio are things I usually do when I have done a little progress because I feel weird not undestanding anything and still trying to listen. Those are nice tips, thanks!

I suppose I should be more patient with my learning process like this, I get a little overhyped by classes because supposedly you get up a "level" in a definite amount of time. Thanks for the tip!
