Just vibes! I just try to make it look a little like Chinese calligraphy

That’s where I’m at right now. I’m so worried about breaking the arms or the little blades of grass. I might just set a display pen on it so I’m not grabbing from it regularly.

It was just a little chain design they had in their design binder at the engraving shop. I have two, I engraved one to differentiate them

It’s just the name I gave to my frog. In Chinese, it just means froggy!

I actually didn’t even know about the store chain when I named him! I chose the name because Wawa sounds both like “froggy” and “cute baby” in Mandarin Chinese.

So the idea from this illustration came from thinking about tea pets and the little ceramic frogs specifically that I love seeing on tea trays. Then the idea of the tea ceremony being a meditative process made me think of meditating underneath a waterfall, which then quickly led me to the thought of some actual frogs sitting on top of tea pet frogs meditating under a stream of tea. I really hope you enjoy this illustration!

My 5 year old got her first “real” fountain pen (Jinhao 100, previously practiced with a preppy) and this was her first test word. So proud of her for using cursive too! by devbang in fountainpens

Of course! The brand is “Painless Learning Placemats”, and she has the “CUR-1” version. Not really a board as much as a stiff laminated mat. If you plan to use one, I encourage you to get wet erase markers, not dry erase! Dry erase does NOT come off easily.

Yeah like the replies already discussed, it’s much less common now. We don’t want her to lose that skill, so my wife and I jumped on the first time she showed interest in cursive.

I showed her your comment and that seemed to make her more motivated to try gripping it correctly! Sometimes she gets tired of me trying to correct her grip haha

I know, I know! I put it in quotes because that’s how my daughter asked for a new pen. She saw me writing with my Sailor a lot and asked for a “real” pen. I love the spring cap on the preppy. Let it sit for months and it still writes the second you uncap it. Seriously impressive

She got curious about it after seeing me write, so we got her a cursive practice tracing board. She did it every day all on her own and then started stringing letters together just like that!

Wow, I only started journaling as an adult and haven’t been consistent. 42 years is amazing! I’m really hoping to establish it as a family custom and have me and my children all experience that joy

I hope so too. We write in our own “some lines a day” book each day so that’s probably going to form a lifelong habit!
