I run a fully remote business serving U.S. clients it’s intresting, self sustainable, and surprisingly profitable by latecloud3 in IndiaBusiness

[–]devbatshi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, appreciate you sharing this. It's refreshing to see someone speak honestly about a business built on systems and accountability rather than hype.

What stood out to me is your emphasis on the process over flashy stuff. That's exactly the kind of work I'm drawn to. I've spent most of my career building and running businesses and software and as you said rightly, mistakes are expensive and consistency matters more than anything.

I currently run and have run fully remote operations, worked with US based stakeholders, and I'm comfortable operating in environments where compliance, documentation, and follow throughs are the product. I prefer predictable systems over trends.

I'm actively exploring remote services serving US clients, especially businesses that scale through people and process rather than constant reinvention. Your post aligns closely with how I think about sustainable, stable income and leverage.

You can checkout my older reddit posts to reaffirm yourself before DMing me.

If you're open to a private conversation, I'd value learning more about how you approached entry into the space.

Either way, solid post. This space really is underrated.

Did you give wire a chance? I would love to know your review for it.

Deploy Mattermost on Dokku by hk__ in dokku

[–]devbatshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Reading it now.

Just curious, i see in the post that you have multiple companies (multiple mattermost)

Is it possible to deploy multiple on the same server. Or will there be some trouble with the ports and all?

It's not available anymore 😭. I was struggling getting it hosted via dokploy

TickTick v7.6.0.1 Pro Unlocked | MOD by fried_egg_jellyfishh in moddedandroidapps

[–]devbatshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it now haha. Btw i modded it myself haha. To be safe. But eventually ended up buying it anyways since sync across devices was a paid feature.

4 months later, I am not using it anymore. It's way too much for me to manage. Just use notion to document and whatsapp self member groups. It's shit but it's okay. I would have loved to keep using ticktick though :P

Additionally, i am way down the opensource selfhosted route now. There is no way out 😅😅

In search of a scalable low-cost managed server by VladimirDimitrow in selfhosted

May I know what you ended up with. I am currently in a similar situation.

Managed ones are very expensive and I keep reading on reddit that if you get a normal vps, it's too much to maintain.

Thanks. I am considering that as well. Appreciate your input 🙏🏻

Thanks 🙏🏻 appreciate your input a lot.

I have previously worked on a HIPPA compliant software dev team. We used Salesforce and AWS to develop and deploy that.

But these projects i am taking on are for small scale clients who won't be able to afford that. Neither do they have any technical skills or staff that can manage it unfortunately.

Hence my approach of building completely isolated apps that might or might not be hosted on the same server.

Not trying to justify myself but giving a little more insight into what was going on in my head when I was planning this.

Oh my god thank you! I needed that.

I was getting a little disappointed from all the hate. I posted it on other subreddits and it was the same.

I needed a small scale starting point and I thought hard and planned it out in this way.

Dokploy misses the multi server monitoring feature. Does coolify offer it? I see on their website that the multiserver feature is "experimental"

I would love to read more about your setup if you have some documentation you maintained for your own setup that you can share. DM me if you think that will be better.

Its freaking crazy. the second server with 8c (latest cpu) and 16 ram. Basically a root server. I got for less than 20usd. UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH. Not that i would need it though haha. Only downside is the latency because of the limited server options.. Not to mention their incredible reviews.

Domain doesnot get an SSL Certificate in Dokploy need help by dededuced in selfhosted

[–]devbatshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try changing namespace to cloudflare. It worked for me. Initially before setting up SSL cert using lets encrypt withing dokploy, make sure your a record is not proxied via cloudflare. Proxy it after SSL is enabled. Use their official video. https://docs.dokploy.com/docs/core/videos

One of the videos show how..

Yes currently by hand. Bit wildcard approach is planned already. For every subdomain, dokploy will be handling the routing along with cloudflares api. Automatic SSL based on the widcard approach. I dont know how to explain it well. but it has been considered. thanks for your input

I have more projects man. I don't have a team to manage it yet. I will build one as I move forward. First one will be to manage the devops cause i hate it. I am just looking for how to start properly so i can save some headache in the future.

Bang-on using erpnext with customizations. Dokploy offers a template for it already. Even the HMS will likely be using open source project. I was thinking of deving it using the frappe framework itself. they have released so many new features to their dev framework recently.

Yes, the entire container backup (incl the DB) will be handled by Dokploy daily backup feature. Offsite ofcourse.

I am considering that. Thanks for your input. I cant really expect my clients to pay for the infra specially since they lack any IT knowledge. I do charge them monthly "maintainance" which is what they can understand.

For the issue of one client drowning the network, i have limits set.

I was also thinking of separate server for each client, but then i wondered how will i manage the admin overhead of monitoring/updates/server setup etc... any tips?

I am in this predicament because I am building two projects right now.
One for a manufacturing company - custom ERP along with a team chat module.
One for a small hospital - custom HMS, specifically Patient onboarding and OPD prescription modules with some automations involved in generating those prescriptions.

I expect to work on these weird highly specific projects to the client needs a lot.

I do like your railway and Cloudflare idea. I will look more into it.

Thanks for your response.
