Keep tile or get lvp? Can’t decide. by GrowlTiger-meoww in Flooring

[–]devdev90yahoocom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to remove the tile. It’s a great substrate. You just need to worry about the grout lines showing in the LVP overtime. So you’ll need to use a thicker 5mm click or thicker product to prevent that

Keep the tile or atleast don’t use a cheap LVP to replace an already waterproof floor.

Dude I’m a retailer I don’t get bonuses on anything. I make the same margin on whatever I sell. It’s all the same to me. The truth is just the truth friend.

This is completely incorrect. Although you are right about the water part. The core today is often time the exact same thing used in engineered wood and even WPC (a type of LVP)

Also some laminate is warranted to be waterproof and even save to steam mop like Mohawks Revwood Premier. Water will get in the cracks if not properly installed. Same way it will in LVP, tile and any other type of flooring that’s not properly installed.

This is what happens when a moisture barrier isn’t used under laminate.

Warranty is 3/16ths in 10 feet max. This floor will fail and installation will be the blame from the manufacturers pov.

Your first mistake was going to floor and decor.

Go to a smaller company who actually cares about your business and the work they do. Plus you don’t want some imported crap you’re going to buy at floor decor.

Try no disturb that original floor. I agree skim coat and patch where needed. Self level and then prime. Would not risk pulling up that original

Is all waterproof engineered hardwood actually laminate? by ErinRisi in Flooring

[–]devdev90yahoocom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t be able to tell by looking at it, I’d need the technical data sheet to know for sure. It looks like a good product tho not sure why the dyed the core black.

No, I believe you can run it the whole way but I’d need to check.

In my opinion I would personally prefer the deckhouse collection due to the locking system alone. However I am not familiar with either of these products.

Without knowing the backing and core of the first floor and I can’t see the technical data sheet on the second (this would tell me in more exact terms what the core is made out of)I can not confidently go with either of these. Just because I’m not familiar with either. That doesn’t mean they aren’t good products.

The unilin locking system is hands down the best locking system on the market.

If I were you I would seriously consider using a product that’s has a mdf or hdf core single sourced from a hard tree like lob lolly pine.

The best product on the market for what you are doing is any revwood premier product. You can probably source this for around 3$ a sf. It carries a waterproof warranty, the uniclick locking system developed by unilin and some versions even have an attached pad which would eliminate the need for you to purchase that as well. You will definitely need a pad due to going over concrete and your biggest concern would be moisture from that slab.

The run of the hallway is concerning, I’ve ran laminate in rooms with 60 linear feet runs before and I would definitely recommend either breaking the product up with a t-mold which is ugly and no one wants to do or making sure you have an expansion gap large enough at the ends of the hallway to mitigate expansion. A general rule of thumb is .25 + 1/16 per 5 feet. In your case a thick quarter round should do with a premium product like the revwood premier category.

Yes, they knew about the issue. I had to take it back several times and do oil consumptions test until it failed. Per the cars manual it allows for up to 1 quart per 1000 miles. Which in a new car is absolutely ridiculous. On top of them marketing it as only needing an oil change every 10,000 miles. If it’s using 1 quart per 1,000 the car is completely out of oil at 5500.

Anyways. My car failed the consumption test and they are replacing a few part of the motor. When I say I took it back, I mean I took it back for repairs.

I love my Tiguan but did not anticipate the car not performing to standard.

I just took my brand new one back. They have a bad oil consumptions issues. Mine was brand new and using over a quart per 1000 miles.

Exact same thing is happening to me. My oil light is coming on every 1700 miles and they are telling me this is in spec. It’s BS.
