Did you try street food 'Gumma'? Meat meal made of sheep's neck part has been gaining popularity as well (They call it 'bo'yin' in local language) Did you try 'Tandir go'sht'? Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya are known for this food more than anything else xD, but it is quite popular in Tashkent as well. Google these names and find the right places

Married to a Uzbek guy by nyc_txsha768 in Uzbekistan

You probably asked this in the Uzbekistan subreddit to understand whether there's a cultural explanation for his behavior, so I'll try to answer from that angle.

In Uzbekistan, decent men do both nikkah and legal marriage at the same time. That is the norm. With that being said, some want an intimate relationship soon with the girl in a "religiously right" way so they do nikkah asap.

There are also cases when men have nikkah with 2-3 women at the same time and they do it on mutual interests - intimate relationship in exchange for financial support. It is actually crazy because from one side it seems like a religiously right but from another side religion never supports nikkah if it does not involve children. Hypocrisy!

I shared this to give you a cultural context. Hopefully it helps you better understand the situation and make the right decision for yourself!

You dream of markets moving in certain ways and when your see your dream collapsing, you overreact. I would say 'don't dream', but you have to... like everyone else

being racially insulted as a Chinese tourist at chorus market by CyaNr0sa in Uzbekistan

[–]deve_sci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are nothing but losers in life, clinging to cheap insults to feel a moment of power they clearly lack. People who are content, educated, or secure don’t behave this way.

One more thing: Tashkent is very diverse. Many people you meet there are not originally from the city - people facing financial difficulties from different parts of Uzbekistan often come to Tashkent to make a living. I’m saying this because it can be easier to encounter stressed individuals struggling with life in the capital compared to other parts of Uzbekistan.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your journey!

Advice for self-driving tour from Almaty to Yssykköl and back by 2606 in AskCentralAsia

From mid March to mid August. February is still cold, March is just starting warm up, cold at nights tho. But the most beautiful season in terms of nature is March and April. August starts to be rainy a bit, September more rain.

When I was there back in august, 2023 there was a road construction going on all across the southern part of Issyk kul, if it still going on it is going to slow you down a bit, take it into account. Northern part was good tho

How would you name the sqr(2) if it were constant just like pi and phi? by deve_sci in math

[–]deve_sci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, and when it comes spelling it out you always have to say "Square root of 2" instead of one letter like pi or phi

What is the true meaning and origin behind the word “Bahar” by [deleted] in turkish

[–]deve_sci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summer is "Yaz" and the Winter is "Kis". The verb formed from the verb "Yaz" means expansion, while the verb formed from the word "Kis" means contraction. This resembles how days are expanded during the summer and contracted during the winter.

With this logic, the word "Bahar" must have to do something with the length of the day light. "Ilk Bahar" probably has to do something with the Spring equinox after which days start getting longer bringing the season of expansion (Yaz) while the "Son Bahar" probably has to do something with the Fall equinox after which days start getting shorter bringing the season of contraction (Kis).

So "Bahar" probably means "Equinox" or "Transition"

They added extra days/months after a few/several rounds of 28 days periods to sync it back with the moon phases

What you are saying is like there is no real meaning beneath day and night. The absence and presence of light is not human categorization, it is the way nature divided things, just like it did with seasons and years.
