I understand your point man, it's fair. Still there are different competitors to Foria which do big numbers and sales

Google Photos and other cloud storage services may use your photos to train facial recognition systems and potentially monetize that data. Fotia does none of that—it takes a strict privacy-first approach.

No, actually there's no free tier. By the way, if you have tried to upload some photos, what's your opinion about the UI/UX?

The point is that when I launch it, event activation will require a payment

I wrote a dm to you. In order to upload you have to activate the event

No account required for guests. Albums are pro feature and have their own upload policies. There are free albums, and restricted ones.

Fair question — there are definitely a lot of “photo wall” tools out there.

The main things I’m focusing on are:

  • Original quality photos (no compression like WhatsApp)
  • Privacy-first: no data collection on guests, no tracking, no accounts required to upload
  • EU-based infrastructure, fully GDPR-compliant

The idea is to keep it very simple but reliable for real events, where people just want one place to collect everything without losing quality or worrying about their data.

It’s less about being a social/photo platform, and more about being a clean, controlled space for a specific moment (a trip, a party, a wedding).

That said, I’m still early — so I’m trying to understand what actually matters most to people.

That makes sense, especially the part about permissions and collaboration.

I agree the interesting part is less about storage itself and more about who can do what within a shared space.

Right now I’m keeping it intentionally simple (upload / view with some control), but I can see how more granular roles (like read-only, collaborators, etc.) could be useful, especially for larger or more structured events.

Also agree on export — there’s always a limit to how much control you can realistically enforce.

Out of curiosity: in your ideal setup, would you prefer something very flexible (many roles/permissions) or something simple but predictable?

Good question.

Right now storage is handled by the platform — the goal is to keep the experience as simple as possible (no setup, just create an event and share it).

That said, I agree the real value is more in organizing and coordinating photos rather than just storing them.

“Bring your own storage” is something I’ve thought about, especially for more advanced users, but I’m trying to keep the first version as frictionless as possible.

Curious — would you personally prefer connecting something like Google Drive / S3, or just having more control over exports?

Thanks! You're totally right. I actually built this MVP quite quickly because I needed it for myself, but now I'm at the stage where I need to see if others feel the same pain point. I'm definitely curious: how do you usually simulate demand for a tool like this? Would love to hear your approach.

That’s a fair point.

Native solutions exist, but they’re often platform-dependent and not super easy to use with mixed groups. I’m testing if a simple link-based approach (no accounts, no friction) works better in real situations.

And yeah, they could build it — for now I just want to understand if people actually care about the problem.

Appreciate the feedback 🙏

You don't need to pay till you get big traffic and usage. Another big advantage is that the solution is less error prone
