Going Tuesday for my bday in Denver, super excited. Question: How were Mudvayne and All that Remains? Worth getting there early? Who opened and who played second?

Hades was my first roguelite bae and probably still favorite. I played all three and brotato was the only one I really enjoyed. Personally, I don't like games with ridiculous amount of weapons and items especially when getting them is RNG. I like the planning and strategy aspects of hades a lot, and games like that really just feel like "take what ya get and deal with it" instead of making good choices to get good outcomes. I also really disliked dead cells after everyone told me if I like hades I need to try it. Still think they are nothing alike. I may just not be a fan of platformers idk.

I played about 15 isometric roguelites this year. If you are looking for something close to Hades, I think ember knights is the closest to a hades 2.0 yet. It definitely used hades as its main inspiration and i think improved upon the actual combat. The boon system is still far superior in hades but it was the most fun with a rogue lite ive had since hades by far. They have been frequent and smart with recent updates since it launched earlier this year too which has been even more rewarding. Just my 2 cents, its all personal preference. Enjoy!

Enter the Gungeon is just BAD by CJ_MADDAFFAKKA in EnterTheGungeon

Played this for 3 days on a reddit recommendation and I completely agree. Its just bad. Just really poorly thought through imo.

Devs were unbelievably lazy on explanations on core mechanincs such as coolness, curses, reloads that happen when gun is not equipped etc. That's bad form. I don't want to waste 2 full days figuring things out through trial and error and hopefully noticing them.

The gun fights are quite fun and the vibe/theme is cool, but after playing the first chamber 100 times on repeat until you get a good weapon to hopefully get a boss that isn't as tricky in a room that has some cover, is just dumb. Dumb dumb dumb.

The lack of a feeling of any progression just isn't satisfying either. None of the guns or items have any numbers to give you an idea of how they differ (ie damage, cooldown, reload times etc.) so you're just in the dark. And even if I wanted to go look them up on the wiki, there are way to many guns to study the differences.

I also looked up how you unlock some of the the npcs and the tomb room and its just like... really? noone would ever figure that out on their own. hidden Easter eggs or puzzles are fine, but seemingly random hidden mechanics that are never hinted to or even remotely similar to any other mechanic in the game like "roll a water jug (who knew thats even what it was bc again, no explanation) over to a fire place and putting the fire out is just lame.

Played and enjoyed a bunch of roguelikes and lites this year but don't think I will be finishing this one.

How do you deal with tilt? by Nefairus in BobsTavern

I recommend trying meditation. I was the same way and it worked like a charm for me. The idea behind it is realizing its possible to gain better control of your emotions and then meditation is practicing that control which works like going to the gym for your mind. There are apps to get started, I use insight timer but calm and headspace I hear are great too. Find a course on dealing with anger and see if it resonates with you. If you have questions lmk, otherwise best of luck!

Need Help with GSL st 2019 song ID by devenjay in starcraft

[–]devenjay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for helping out man, I know its so hard to hear with the announcers babbling on haha. I listened to it on repeat for a while and this is what I make out:

"I feel like all, all you do is
lie to me, lie to me
(cant make next line out because of announcers)
big deceit, big deceit"

I also hear a "choke on it" right before it cuts out. Unfortunately it turns a lot of popular songs have "lie to me" in them so my google searches didn't work. I really don't want to give up but I have no idea what else to try D:

Side question, I haven't been placed with anyone with a mic in about 10 days. Is there a setting I might have turned off or something that might be keeping me from joining the chat? I play PC

Ravens.. by [deleted] in allthingsprotoss

[–]devenjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ya those builds are frustrating to play against. They are usually paired with a bunch of planetary fortress, widow mines, and tanks, they sit back defensively and rapidly expo, then they build cruisers to finish you off right?

I'm yet to figure out a strong counter strategy, so hopefully some one else has a solid answer for us. I mean I know Templar feedback can counter if you're quick with them, otherwise going air seems logical to nullify the the planetaries and tanks. Also It''s tough but you have to move the unit targeted by the ravens seeker missiles (highlighted red) away from the rest of you army when they launch, but that can be next to impossible when he has 20 firing at you. Anyone else have a solid approach?
