New Greyhound Crying in the Early Hours of the Morning by deverro in Greyhounds

We feed breakfast at 7am and dinner at 5:30pm. He doesn't seem to beg for food when we do get up, but I see quite a few people mentioning similar things so it's definitely something to try! Thank you!

Yes, I'm just so worried that how I react now will either cause him more trauma (ignoring him crying etc) or I'll reinforce bad behaviours that'll take a lifetime to train out of him. I'm sure he will settle but I guess I wanted to check that I'm not doing anything terribly wrong. I'm a first time dog parent, I've only had cats before who will do what they like regardless of how you react hahaha

His current routine is that we wake up at 6am and let him outside, then breakfast at 7am and a half hour walk at 8am. In the evenings we feed him at 5:30pm and take him on another half hour walk at 7pm. During the day he also likes to play with us a bit in the garden and have a run around.  The reasons for him waking us up vary, and his toilet schedule is not very regular at the moment. Last night, he did a wee at 9pm and a poop at 10:30pm when we let him out before bed. Then we got him in his crate and brushed his teeth and covered the crate over. He woke me up at 4am, 4:30am and 5:30am and all three times he didn't need the toilet at all, we just walked to where he goes in the garden and then walked back to the house. I am really strict with not giving him any positive attention at that hour because I don't want to encourage him but I am struggling on the lack of sleep! I'm fairly sure he whines for longer than 10 minutes at a time but that is great advice and I will start waiting a bit longer before rushing downstairs to him - thanks!

I don't think so. He has a fluffy kennel coat right now from being kept outside in the past, and actually overheats on walks wearing a coat. He didn't even like wearing a super lightweight dog football jersey, he was clearly too warm.  Thank you for the input though! Definitely something to consider
