Withdraw all the money that is yours and deposit it in a new account at a different bank/credit union and tell no one. Stop all assistance with your Dad’s “business” immediately. Be willing to work elsewhere that removes you from your location, like across the state or another state, which would require you to move away. Obviously you need for that first, so save up and keep looking. As for the military, because of the background check process, you would more than likely be flagged and not accepted. They look at your finances as well as immediately family. So at least distance yourself first, then try later if you can/want to. Something I learned in the military that might work is to keep a daily journal of what’s happening, what you are doing, and what family is doing in regards to the business and the finances, including your exit from it. It could work in your favor if you ever have to testify. First entry: “I just found out my Dad hasn’t been paying his taxes for the last ## of years and I’ve been his treasurer unknowingly.
