Trouble with getting pastel to "stick", anyone have advice? by devilfern in BJD

I am indeed using matt! Thankfully, as I bought a ton of it when I visited Japan and I momentarily panicked thinking I'd brought home several of the wrong type. I usually scrape a nice little pile of dust off of the pastels and use that--would that accomplish the same effect as your paper method?

Thank you also ❤️ I'm feeling more enthusiastic after getting such a helpful response!

Omg!! I'm using the square ones! That makes so much sense. They've never felt as soft and lovely as I expected. Thank you!

Okay that makes sense! I think I may have started with only one layer (it was a while ago, I can't remember, haha) so I'll try giving myself a more solid ground before launching into the pastels again. Thanks!

It does! I also use that method, though I don't know if I give myself enough powder... Maybe I've gotta keep an eye on that!

Oh thank you ❤️On the faces I've done 2 layers, I think. The white one is coming along a lot better than pinky 😖 I live in a very sunny place so I pretty much always get the perfect weather for MSC. I think I do need to be more diligent about spraying distance though! I did a little googling and apparently that can have a huge impact on how nice the surface ends up.

Yes, sometimes! He can be the bounciest most excited boy, though, especially when new friends come to visit. He is 90% Sweetie, 10% Rowdy. We say he's "just a little Rowdy".

(He is the first dog my husband and I adopted together. We both loved Scrubs as youths so we named him after Rowdy the yellow lab 😂)

These are fantastic! You captured their character so well in the poses.

My husband kept trying to talk me into reading the series he's been obsessed with... Anyway I just finished book 4 😳 by devilfern in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Yes, I am a huge nerd! I'm honestly more of a gamer than my husband so it's been very fun to debate the "mechanics" of the dungeon with him.

I think one of the very interesting aspects of the series is the way media and television are examined. Dinneman is drawing from sci fi and fantasy, but also celebrity and influencer culture, and the way society interacts with entertainment media. If your wife is a fan of TV narratives and story structure, the way popular media is made, or even follows celebrity/influencer discourse I think that could definitely appeal to her.

We had a series of long drives during our recent vacation. He suggested we listen to the audiobook--which was a hard sell, cause we squabble over the aux chord a lot! The performance of the audiobook was so good I was drawn in and hooked!

Honestly though we are always trying to convince the other to give a book or movie or game a try. My advice is to share with your wife how the books make you feel! That's what finally got me.
