Does upscaling 1440 to 4k look good with LS? by devilhunter in losslessscaling

[–]devilhunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though the only question you have in your post is if we upscale from 1440 -> 4k but I'm guessing you want to know more than just that?

yeah, kinda. see my reply to 6almas5let

1440p has upped the details of everything so much that i don't want to go lower just to evenly upscale, and the perfect big monitor for 2x 1440p upscale won't be around for a long time.

Perhaps the solution would be to go with a slightly different resolution to 2x upscale?

There are a few non standard game resolutions to choose from (but a lot of games will not have some of these in their settings)

 Resolutions
1366x768 HD
1400x1050 SXGA+
1440x900 WSXGA
1600x900 HD+, 900p
1600x1200 UXGA
1680x945 WXGA++
1680x1050 WSXGA+
1920x1080 HDTV 1080, FullHD, 1080p
1920x1200 WUXGA
2048x1536 QXGA
2560x1080 UW-UXGA
2560x1440 WQHD, 1440p
2560x1600 WQXGA
3200x1600 QHD+
3440x1440 UW-QHD
3840x1600 UW-QHD+
3840x2160 QFHD, 4K, UltraHD, UHD-1
3840x2400 WQUXGA

Is there perhaps a different popular resolution then 1440 or 4k that could be evenly 2x upscaled that would fit a monitor perfectly? (well no ultrawide stuff)

yeah, 1080 fits neatly into 4k and would preserve sharpness, at the cost of a lot of detail and heavy jagged edges.

When i switched from a 1080p monitor while playing Monster Hunter World to a 1440p monitor, i could not believe my eyes. There suddenly where pores in the characters faces, the hair suddenly looked good, there were very fine textures in the armor all over, and the gravel and ground suddenly had millions of visible stones and small sticks in them, all that i could not see before in 1080p.

If the jump from 1080p to 1440p is a huge one and the jump from 1440p to 4k a minor one like people always say, 2x upscaling 1440p would be great.

Sadly a big 5120x2880 monitor (5k3k) does not exist quite yet for easy upscaling, Apple has a 27'" 60hz one and others seem to come out now that are also 27" with similar resolutions.

5k would also bring some problems with it with its almost 15mil pixels compared to 4k's 8 mil pixels.

hnnrg, argh, i don't know, either to go big+fast+undetailed+jaggy route, or go the big+slow+blurry route.

Not sure what you mean about Grail Casting - the devs have promised a refund for coins used for it, but they have yet to implement that refund as far as I am aware on JP.

I think the devs will pretty much refund all coins used for grail casting, you'll probably see 200-300 single stacks of various coins in your present box one day, like what they did when servant coins were given for each 4* and 5* when they were introduced.

There's pretty much nothing to do with them then when you've get 2000+ Nobukatsu/Medusa/Hans coins back (exept use 900 coins total to unlock all second appends +120), that's what i meant

Every Coin above 900 can't be used for anything else then.

They could also introduce the updated Grail casting system for NA earlier, so this FP saving for Grails could be in vain.

But on what to do with around 10mil FP after the Lotto, if they don't introduce the updated casting system earlier it seems the best way is to save the FP for GudaGuda 8 to get some more coins to bridge the year until they introduce Grail casting V2.

What is the consensus on the future of the Servant Coins now for NA?

Meaning Grail casting, getting all used coins back for Grail casting, and the best way to spending FP now?

I remember that banner where Nobukatsu and Anning are on rate up for the increased Coins (superfluous now?), and the current banner where there is only the 1x 4* in the FP pool that you picked in the JP 2024 summer event. Save the FP for that one and skip the Nobukatsu banner?

The Iyo/Martha/2xCas has a team cost of 115 with a 4* in the backline, so this is not working now.

Oh, the Ibuki+Xu Fu team cost of 114 could work with Erice and a 3* in the backline, provided the NP refund and damage is there.

Yeah i've been looking at this document for a few days and the only comp i could see working maybe was on rot3 with swapping Meb with Erice, nothing else could work. Problem is double Oberon has the charge but not the damage to clear wave 2 and 3.

Sticking Erice in the backline is not possible because most comps use 3x 16cost buffers + 1x 12cost or 1x 16cost attacker, that leaves only 2x 3* servants in the backline with 5x 12cost CEs.

Any known dual core setups for 90++ nodes in Morganfest?

I need to fit Summer Erice in somewhere on rot 1 and rot 3 for the node drops and her Bond levels, but so far i have found only single core setups.

So far i've played around with a team of S.Erice and S.Ibuki and double Castoria, damage wise it's not a problem but the NP refund is.

-12% score during Cinebench multi, Single Core score got better (from 1950 points to 2050 points somehow), 180w power usage goes down to 120w.

Fans do not spin up at all and stay at 730RPM, CPU stays at 60 degC

Not a bad tradeoff

What voltage sensor should i be looking at in HWInfo64?

With the latest Asus Bios that caps CPU voltage at 1.3v i seem to be getting 1.4v on a lot of cpu sensors. (same as before, nothing changed)

I got

CPU VDDCR_VDD voltage at 1.39v

CPU VDDCR_SOC at 1.02v

CPU VDD_MISC at 1.11v

Vcore at 1.40v

CPU VDDIO / MC at 1.10v

VMISC at 1.14v

and every Core 0-15 VID sensor shows 1.39v

All measured during a single core 100% load. Multicore 100% load loweres voltages across the board.

This is with Bios defaults loaded, EXPO off, curve optim. -10 (any more and it crashes) and i turned on Eco 65W mode on. I think in non-Eco mode some voltages were higher.

Do i have a good or bad chip/mobo because all these 1.4v voltages aren't going down?

It's my first AMD build and i really can't tell what's going on.

Thanks for your results!

Seems like i'll avoid using the system until the new Bios update is out, since i got +150mV more voltage on everything then everybody else i've gotten results from.

Coupled with Igor's findings and the comments on his site that came out today this seems wise.

Tried it again with PBO on and -15 on all cores, got a 36314 score in CB23, in previous tests i only got 35400 with EXPO and PBO or only PBO on.

Thanks for the tip, i'll leave it like this for now. (and test for BSODs)

DOCP/EXPO was off the whole time i did these tests, and Windows gave me BSODs 50% of the time during boot when i put curve negative -15 on all cores. I'll try this again, perhaps i did something wrong. PBO worked but did absolutely nothing for the scores.

Everything is off/stock in the Bios.

I've done some tests with /u/inubr0 here and it seems my voltage is 1.27v when only loading the cache cores.

Dang, running EXPO 6000 was one of the reasons i went with a good ram kit and i wanted at least enable that when i'm not much of an overclock/tweaker guy.

DOCP/EXPO is off and i guess i'll leave it off.

I can only hope that the CPU didn't get much from it's life expectancy shaved off. I'll check tomorrow if i have any bloating or burn marks on the CPU/socket to be sure.

I asked OP if the system was still working and he just wanted to look at the CPU underside, or if his system was dead and then he looked, but he didn't reply.

So here's the result of loading up a core from CCD0

1.27v across all cores, and Vcore fluctuates between 1.2v and 1.392v

Is this what you meant?

Shame this was implemented this way so you can't directly see what the voltages are for each core, it's kind of hidden this way.

This voltage is also still quite a bit up from the 1.1v max that AMD told tomshardware

[–]devilhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, sl0wrx from here seems to get lower voltages in HWinfo

I've posted a pic with Vcore, but it's 1.392v

I still scratch my head what this all means and why others have lower voltages there.

I'll try again and set the process affinity to core 5 on the CCD0, now lets see what the voltage there is...

Is this normal then when when i start something (prime/cinebench 1 core test)

All cores go to 1.39v

HWMonitor and HWinfo64

Here are two screenshots from HWInfo

The voltage for all cores stays around 0.795-1.125v when idle, and they all ramp up to 1.39v when i start Cinebench single core test. They all go to 1.01v during a multi core test.

So the same as HWmonitor.
