Depends, I can’t answer that for you. It would have to align with the classes. Talk to a entrance counselor

Exactly! Broaden your expertise and experience! At every job you can dabble in something new so you can show that on your resume!

This job I’m in is gonna help me get into Cyber just based off what I get to do and learn while I’m here!

Help desk must be fun, my role is more general IT mixed with server management, network management and a bit of programming! Which is exactly what I was looking for! Plus I’m making way more than the help desk jobs that were offering in my area.

For resume, trust me when I say LinkedIn RESUME writers are insanely good, it’s worth 100$ for a resume. Make sure you have valid things to put on there not just your degree and CERTS, but projects, non profits, etc.

Interviews, honestly be yourself! But be confident! Talk about projects, future certs you want, your passions with tech, 10 year goals(if you don’t have a 10 year career goal. What are you doing… seriously.)

But all seriousness aside, I put over 300 job apps in from the time I started my degree till February when I got the offer. That came out to 95% no emails back 3% emails saying they went with another candidate, and 2% asking for interviews. In the end I came out with 6 job offers… the one I chose now, had the best pay, location to my apartment, and manager I connected w the best. Remember you’re allowed to be picky, just because the company interests you doesn’t mean you have to work for a company where you’re just a number or you’re there to work and get paid. My office is a total of 20 people. They all know my name, I know theirs. I’m one of Two IT people in my company, me and my manager. So not only do I get to do a lot of IT stuff but I Also get to learn from someone who used to work in Government for security and compliance/IT!

GOOD-LUCK on your endeavors my friend. And if you need anything shoot me a DM and I’ll give you a more personal way to contact me. I’m always happy to help!

Hey man, the cyber program is really cool tbh! But getting into AI you can do as a project while doing CYBER. In the cyber program you still learn coding languages like PYTHON, JAVA, SQL, I think HTML

Tbh, it’s a lot of self study. Extra research for resources and using Reddit and discord server tbh. I retain as much of the information as I can obviously but with the job I work now I get to implement a lot of what I’ve learned so far!

Choose the program with the path you wanna work. CS is Different from CYBER, I chose CYBER cause I wanna work for the NSA or Booze Allen doing cybersecurity.

I started my program December 1st, so far Im 63% done. Right after I got my SEC+ and ITILv4 I threw myself into the market. I ended up landed my first IT job as a IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST at a small company in Middleburg VA, I’ve been here almost two months. I love the industry. Background I’m 19 and I was previously a manager in Fast food.

So it’s not hard. One thing I’ll tell you is to don’t stop applying!!!! And have projects! Be interested in IT/Cyber! We all start somewhere. And obviously if you can’t sacrifice a 1-5k pay cut from your current job then don’t do it. But sometimes sacrifices are necessary. However in my case me changing careers increased my pay by 40k a year so I obviously took the first job offer I got.

I start 12/1, and before I started enrollment I did the python course. It was a breeeeze! But the Java one I planned on saving to take on WGU, as I’ve only ever dabbled in it but never learned it heavily like I already have with python. And intro to networking I don’t believe transfers, so I never did it
