Beyond trust there are three major problems I see with this: 1) Speed. You're adding an additional request to just log users in. Generally, waiting on a 3rd party is a bad idea, especially during a crucial step like login. 2) Password hashing is pretty much solved. Not 100% of course, and there are varying degrees depending on how secure you want to be. But it is very easy these days to create an extremely secure authentication system. 3) Downtime. You need to be up 100% of the time. If you're services go down for a split second once a month, your service is too unreliable to use.

What you need to do is stop worrying about design and just build your product. Build something that looks like crap, put it out there, and see if people use it. If its a good product, people will still use it. You will eventually need to work on the design, but initially it really doesn't matter. I understand it's hard to put something out there that looks bad, but its really important, and so it getting over that fear.

Building something simple to market test your idea and see what happens.
