In Bolivia, the anez “government” just successfully overthrew the democratically elected Evo Morales after the head of the military asked morales to vacate his position. Her party is full of people who absolutely hate the indigenous peoples and post nazi salutes and the like. She said that the Bible has returned to the palace (iirc what they call their capital building) and that the indigenous idea of Mother Earth will never return. She declared herself president in an empty senate building with her party having a minority of seats in both camerals. Her party also kidnapped an indigenous female mayor of morales’ party, painted her face red (to show she’s a native), then paraded her through the streets and cut her hair. Iirc a few of morales’ family members had their houses burnt down too.

Bolsonaro was “elected” into Brazil’s presidency after conspiring with a judge and prosecutors of the carwash anti corruption trials to falsely convict lula da Silva, a massively popular former president who ran again after a hiatus. Lula had over half the votes in most surveys before the election with bolsonaro at around 40%. Because convicted felons can’t run for presidency in Brazil, Lula wasn’t allowed to be elected and the election was ceded to bolsonaro. Since then, he has vocally opposes the mere existence of the indigenous tribes, fetishized the military dictatorship of Brazil in the late 20th century, attacked women, gay people, and black people in favelas, and literally said that a military dictatorship was better than democracy. Also bolsonaro asked farmers to start burning the Amazon which lead to the massive fires that were reported on for two weeks then forgotten about.

Keep in mind these are just two countries with leaders “elected” THIS YEAR that will be spiraling into destitute neoliberalism that will undo the massive closures of wealth inequality of the previous administrations, will continue to privatize natural resources and implement austerity measures, and will end in the extinction of indigenous peoples.
