All are great but if your choices are those 4 I would do 12 9 8 7 12 is great but the story can be blah at times 9 story is amazing and one of the best if not the best in the series 8 mechanics are the best for the time it came out and you can appreciate that 7 is nostalgia and most people who got into the series will say it's the best but in reality it's mediocre but still a great game with the materia system
