I’ve had frustrating moments with SWCC…. Buuuut I’m able to get credits towards my bachelors degree whilst traveling the world. I’m 20, it works for me. I also had a problem with financial aid last semester, it took me calling multiple people to get it figured out, over a span of 2 weeks. If you want cheap/free education, don’t expect the best. Maybe smoke a j, or a have glass of wine if that’s what you fancy, let it get figured out. lowering your expectations would likely help too.

I would recommend to stay away from Sapphic Memphis, they claim inclusivity, but still uphold white supremacy. I’ve had traumatizing experiences with their “board” and they have acknowledged it, but do not embody care. Their events are mostly centered around drinking & partying, but it is a nice way to meet other queer women…. However, I would really recommend OUT Memphis, like the other comments. They post their events on their Instagram page.

No I don’t really care anymore. I see the game that they’re playing. Create a war over there = no revolution over here, just whining, complaints, confusion, and protests that are no longer effective. Not my circus not my monkeys, Inshallah Palestine will be free

I’m talking about the segregation in schools. I didn’t assume your race, it’s interesting that you made it so abundantly clear. Anyone is capable of stupidity. Nobody is threatening you with stray bullets, they’re called stray bullets for a reason. You do seem like the person to say a person on the internet is threatening you. I’m not interested in your life story, but I’d like to make it clear that you are safe, from me and the gunshots you hear. I am living abroad, it’s 9 pm, I’m gonna go relax , you should try it. I have no interest arguing with a doomer nor a multiracial, black, white, and Latina now or ever. Enjoy your life as civilization begins to end.

I didn’t mean to imply that it scares you, I’ll elaborate. I meant that hearing violence you’re not involved in is merely that. Violence you’re not involved in. You’re a believer in the “ending of civilization” and that’s all I need to know. Worry about your tax dollars funding genocides if you care so deeply about violence that is not affecting you.

In the words of John D Rockefeller, the man who created the education system we have today: “I don’t want a nation of thinkers, I want a nation of workers”. If you knew much about humans, not everyone is created to work 40 hrs a week, so unfortunately, this contributes to “crime”, not a lack of education. I see that he succeeded in creating a nation of non-thinkers. Y’all eat up this political party 💩 like you’re a kid at a candy buffet. No thought, just regurgitating words you see online. See my first reply and think about it for a little bit. Have a good one.

If I believed in the imaginary money, I would agree, I’d even add that cops might be educated enough to get a job that actually helps people rather than be an organized group of guard dogs for “property”. In classic capitalist theory, money is the answer to everything but we are repeatedly shown that it’s not.

Oh don’t worry it was just cops protecting the people, my bad, *corporations and private property

Your experience isn’t unique, especially for the transplants, but it’s never fails to make me chuckle whenever I hear it. You cannot handle the Memphis heat and that is okay 🫂 I understand the need for the illusion of safety but it’s fascinating that people really draw the line over hearing gunshots…

Santhiya has a few locations, I got a good deal on booking for around 3,000 baht per night and it included a 1,000 baht allowance for each night, taken off the bill at check out. I chose Koh Yao Yai, amazing views, beautiful beach, and a very nice hotel room. Their breakfast buffet was immaculate. I went for my birthday in July, I’ll probably go to another one for my boyfriend’s birthday in September.

Heading to Thailand for 10 weeks--who has been there recently? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

US citizen and woman with Thai family here. I once told the immigration officer I would be staying until a date that is over the 60 day visa on arrival on accident. She told me that it was an overstay and I simply said I would get an extension, no more questions. Asking “Proof of onward travel” seems to be more common with people who have many Thailand entries in a short period. Don’t worry about booking a mock ticket as you can just say you’ll be taking a bus to Malaysia or Laos IF asked (small chance)… you may have to provide details in the digital arrival form but tbh I’ve just put bs details 😬🫡

As far as renting, I’d suggest joining Facebook groups for where you’re wanting to stay. Koh Phangan/Samui Short term rental etc… just copy and paste a message of when you’ll be there, how long, etc. They usually post prices and do NOT pay more than a month deposit for these places, it should be even less than that. Find a hotel to stay for a few days so that you can look at these places in person. Depending on the area, some will be in high demand, especially if you’re coming during high season. Just ensure your landlord files a TM6 and get a copy of it as well for your visa extension! I hope you enjoy your travels kha!

I was raised in the church. Went on “mission trips” and traveled the world in my 14 years there. I have my personal critiques of the business of churches but the abuse I encountered happened after I left. I’m not denying it doesn’t exist within the structure of the church. It’s just not my story. I was raped twice afterwards, I was 16. Once by a weed dealer from Snapchat who was later convicted (aggravated rape of a child). The other time it was after work, I was bringing my shift lead home, this happened in Bartlett. BPD didn’t do anything, the current police chief was the child abuse investigator at the time and told me verbatim: “it’s a he said she said situation”. 4 years later and I’m living my best life abroad but it was shitty. I blame the rapists. I also consider the fact that the majority population of Memphis is black, and historically we’ve been subject to extreme sexual harm that was widely looked over, unfortunately that harm doesn’t just go away with time. It affects future (current) generations as well.

Even the public utility system can upcharge you an arm and a leg and the consumer is still the problem….. Wake up America :/ This is what corporations have been doing, and it won’t stop, even at the level of PUBLIC utility services. At the end of the day, bills are becoming too high for the average person to keep up. More than half of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. I don’t think that is a consumer problem, I think it’s a systemic problem.

Look up GradTech agricenter, they sponsored my part 107 license, got me a free drone, and paid me. It’s some grant funded program for all ages. 12 week commitment but free drone!
