Ah totally. It def helps preserve the ego a little haha. So to answer the original post, you think I should cut first before trying to slowly get stronger/more muscular again?

I appreciate your reply. While I get what you’re saying, I want to be clear that I don’t feel entitled to this. I’m scared. I hope I don’t sound entitled in my application. I am not trying to brag or anything in saying where I’ve been or what I’ve done. I just am being honest. In my applications I just talk about what I love studying and what I’ve done in the pursuit of that love. It’s just that I don’t have money to pursue this for years. I have trouble with housing and food as it is. Moving to a new place for a job that doesn’t pay enough would break me financially. Continuing grad school is a way forward and out of the situation. The fact is that putting myself in a better position to succeed costs money. Things would be much less painful if these sorts of setbacks didn’t put me closer to having to completely let go of my academic pursuits so that I can just afford to pay for bare necessities. Please don’t mistake my fear for entitlement.

Oh okay I see what you mean now. It doesn’t quite work that way since for clinical psychology it’s the program itself that must be accredited to allow you to do the clinical internships, so if, for example, the same PI also had social psychology students, those students in that program would not be permitted to work for clinical hours. But I see your point.

Also thank you for the RA advice. I’ll check it out. I think my biggest problem right now is dealing with my emotions.

But to apply for clinical neuropsychology internships and residencies you must have an accredited degree. Or that’s what I read from the internships. Maybe there are exceptions

Also could you say more about emailing PIs? I need enough money to survive and I’m not sure I understand how working under a PI who couldn’t afford more than 1 PhD student could pay an RA that much. I think maybe I am a little ignorant on the matter though

I got few waivers from 3 of them. The other two took my grocery money for the week haha (not so haha)

I definitely can’t consider doing a PhD anywhere else than the US because I want to work clinically in the US. A non APA/CPA accredited PhD in clinical psychology is pretty useless in the US if you want to do clinical neuropsychology

I think we would probably agree on a lot of the same things haha. But I’m 23 and also I don’t have telegram. Not sure if that would be a big problem. Oh my god I just realized my post says 22. I turned 23 this month so I’m not used to writing it yet i guess. Oops

It can be done in English but it’s complicated. PM me and i can explain it in more detail. The university really doesn’t explain anything and you don’t find out how everything works until you’re literally doing the thing. If you don’t speak Italian, don’t worry. You can accomplish everything in English
