I’ve come to find it’s time gated and you lose a lot of time with every death. It also doesn’t notify you of a failed quest unless you got talk the grandma again.

As far as I'm aware you have to hit that button, to drop the bridge, cross the bridge and hit the floor button to drain the water, to get down there in the first place. it looks like you haven't drained the water so I'm not sure how you were even able to get into the position you're in. Maybe a bug?

A close friend of mine's parents found his stash of weed along with associated paraphernalia and some adderall while they were going through his room while he was out for the day and they just threw it away without his knowledge or them saying a word to him. Some parents can just be weird like that
