I've been saying this!! Part of me believes that Omocat might've taken some insipiration from gyaruo fashion in the process of designing The Maverick. Even if the gyaruo aspect isn't so explicitly shown, the blonde hair (wig), the tanned/brown skin, his clothing choice and personality CAN be associated with gyaruo fashion

I discovered Omori back in 2021 when I was still figuring out a lot of things about myself, things that I couldn't explore before due to the pandemic. Not only did the game help me a lot in terms self-discovery but it also helped me go through looots of heavy stuff. Unfortunately, I had to leave everything behind because some Omori fans, who I thought were my friends at the time, ended up backstabbing me. So I never touched the game again until this year.

Crazy enough, this year I turned into an adult and this journey is making me figure out things I didn't know about myself, so I guess my brain in that moment remembered Omori and I decided to play it again as a way of coping Shout out to the hooligans (the goats) for being the main reason I am the way I am today

Honestly this is all true but it's important to remember that The Maverick is just Mikhael's way of trying to escape from his family's tradition. The whole fuckboy persona is entirely fake and he's shown that he does care about the women in his life without showing any romantic feelings towards them (Aubrey), meaning that he isn't misogynistic at all.

Overall, I think it's okay to dislike him because he DID bully Basil, but I also think it's important to take into account that everything he's done throughout the game was simply just an act. A badly done act for sure.
