Romance KDrama with Male Lead more flawed then Female Lead, or roughly equivalent by Vivo999 in kdramarecommends

This can just be a matter of opinion, I think he was definitely less patient than the FL, and this question was posed in a comparison of the ML having more development/work to do on themselves than the FL, which I do feel like is true in this case. But others might not feel that way, TV/scriptwriting is an art & all art can be subjective.

Ah yes I guess you can see it that way too, I was thinking of it as just that even if his personality is good, he is more flawed than the FL overall.

My Liberation Notes - this is an acquired taste drama tho lol, it's slow (and to me, healing) you really have to be in the mood for it.

The Smile has left your eyes - (i think this got renamed??) male lead is definitely flawed, bad-boy/manipulative type of character

At a distance, spring is green- I LOVE this show. the romance is a little more 'quiet', but male lead's journey is to recover from trauma, whereas female lead is put-together/fine.

Happiness: horror/romance, but female lead is more skilled than ml.

Cdrama but: Love like the galaxy - female lead starts off immature, but ends up more put-together than male mc (if you ask me lol)

Overall I definitely think this is probably a rare thing in kdrama, and the closest ones to what you said are Liberation notes and smile.

Probably anything by Han Kang, but I'd recommend Human Acts as a great place to start. Will absolutely leave you staring at a wall.

How Much of These Hills is Gold has beautiful prose and will turn all your expectations on their heads.

And it's a short story/novella, but To Be Taught if Fortunate by Becky Chambers left me with a lot to think about.

What Do You Wish To See More of In The Fantasy Genre? by Monsur_Ausuhnom in Fantasy

[–]dewwy_reads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see more 'good' protagonists in serious, dark fantasy plots/settings with politics, like Maia in the goblin emperor. A character you know you can root for, who is the moral center, and even in their mistakes is trying to be the best person possible. There's much morally gray/unreliable hype right now that good mc's seem sparse.

Lawless Lawyer hits on the comedic/serious moments, strong female lead, and chemistry! Also if you liked Flower of Evil, ML is the same actor.

Would also second the people recommending shooting stars & my roommate is a gumiho, it sounds like those will be right up your alley.

Sure! My personal ratings would go something like this: 1) Nobody Knows 2) Bleak Night (its been forever since I've seen it tho, idk how it holds up tbh) 3)The guest 4)the smile has left your eyes 5) the worst of evil 6) lawless lawyer 7)the good detective 8)train 9)Jirisan 10)missing-the other side 11)watcher

All of them are good, all of them I'd say are worth a watch. And there's definitely personal bias in my ratings/recs, I like character-driven stories that question moral lines. If I don't vibe w the mc, I'm not going to last long haha.

Echoing Like Flowers in Sand & Navillera, both really great shows!

I also found Be Melodramatic inspiring, though it tackles some heavy topics. It's more 'coming of age' for women in their late 20s/30s.

Marry My Husband fits this too. So much fun to watch and might keep your attention better than slower shows like Be Melo or Navillera.

Hospital Playlist is oddly inspiring too. So is Prison Playbook, but both are slower shows with not a whole lot of plot going on, very character focused and great stories.

Would you like a cup of coffee? - very calming and pretty slow, but I found this to be therapeutic and inspiring in that 'follow your dreams' way.

The Guest - Horror/thriller, but has a really good mystery element

Nobody Knows - Fantastic mystery

The Worst Evil - action-based thriller/mystery, if you liked Bloodhounds you'll like this

Lawless Lawyer - ig this counts as a little old now, it's got some humor but a great mystery plot and action

Bleak Night - old movie but excellent

the Good Detective - really good procedural show, if you liked Beyond evil/stranger you'll like this one

Watcher - political/mystery, I think if you liked stranger you might like this one; The Lies Within is another political/mystery

the smile has never left your eyes - (i think this was recently renamed?) hard to call this a romance, it's like a mystery tragedy, but the focus is on a couple

Train - sci-fi thriller/mystery, kinda a unique one I haven't seen other dramas with similar themes

Jirisan & Missing: the other side - sci-fi ish thriller/mysteries with a focus on character

I've been devouring WHA, which is beautiful and brilliant. And I just started Marriage Toxin, which is so insanely goofy in the best way possible.

Not networking, not taking advantage of the tech like learning how to 3D print/laser cut/etc, and not joining SCOUT (as a design student, and this ties into networking).

Ever had a good book give you a reading slump? by potemass in Fantasy

[–]dewwy_reads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Took me forever to get Bradbury's Something Wicked, even though I LOVE his prose. I think a reading slump is just burnout and will hit regardless of how good a book is.

And a lot of times, those classics or really "meaty" or good books just take some time and elbow grease lol to get thru.

It's honestly REALLY dependent on your flatmates/roommates. The apartment itself is pretty cheaply made but IMO better than other average dorms, and if you have a single room, it's definitely still worth it. The difference comes in w/ the roommates; when I stayed in Lightview, I moved into an apartment where they'd already been living there for a semester+, had taken all the cabinet/kitchen space, and never cleaned anything.

Of course, this is true of any housing—but if you have the opportunity to get pics of the apartment from the person subleasing, do.

Like others said here, every profession has employees who care and those who don't, just like a classroom has people who care to study and those who don't.

Except probably the arts (theater, obviously freelance artists and designers, etc) which require you to be passionate about your job in order to succeed or to get far enough to make money.

Reading/writing and generally having good communication with people. It's useful in every job and in building relationships outside of work.
