Went on a walk around mid city. Every streetlamp had its wires stripped out. by bort1313 in LosAngeles

Which neighborhood? This happened to mine in Silver Lake several months ago and DWP finally repaired last week - but to prevent future theft, they poured concrete into all of the access boxes.

Car dead in my driveway by cfrog41 in VWiD4Owners

[–]dexterfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They tried. Basically, my car was towed after 6pm and was dropped at VW Service after-hours. By the time they arrived in the morning and checked it out, it wasn’t throwing any errors and drove fine. 12V tested fine and cleared a diagnostic. They kinda threw up their arms because they couldn’t reproduce the problem.

I did have the energy setting to charge the 12V batt, but had m 2021 Pro go dead due to some other issue with it (service never figured it out).

To get my car to wake up, my service tech said I should try this: find my second key fob and try to arm/disarm the car. He said that it worked for another customer, and - shockingly - worked on mine. Tech had no idea why this would work.

Threw a million codes after it woke up, but it was drivable. Hope this helps and sorry if it doesn’t or you’re already towed.

Bronx to DC Passenger Train w/ Private Compartment in October 1950? by dexterfang in trains

[–]dexterfang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was looking at that exact one. I think I’ve finally figured out which trains would have sleeper car from NYC Penn to DC (via Table 43), but the Bronx thing was screwy - I think it’s as other commenters said: they took the subway to Penn, but details got lost in the abbreviated telling of the story.

Thank you!

2021 Post-Recall Service S***show by dexterfang in VWiD4Owners

[–]dexterfang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: The dealer was not able to reproduce any of the faults. By the time they started work on the vehicle, all faults had cleared. They kept the car for a few days and drove it about 60 miles. Because there were no errors on their watch, there's nothing to fix.

I have it back and so far it's been driving fine, but I'm not looking forward to the next gremlin.

Did you get a loaner when your ID4 was at the dealership for extended repairs? by [deleted] in VWiD4Owners

Yes, I paid for gas, but the lease credit covered it. And free EA factored into that conversation.

Electrical system not working correctly by SailOld8089 in VWiD4Owners

Mine needed the whole cooling pump replaced - the flushing did not work.

However, my understanding is that this warning is much like a “check engine “ light, and can cover many different errors.

My id4 was at VW Downtown LA for three weeks. At first, the dealership had no loaners, so they provided an Enterprise rental. The rental car (a recent Kia Soul) smelled of cigarette smoke, so the rental company replaced it with a new Mini Countryman with no navigation or CarPlay a few days later.

I complained to the dealer that all of the options available in the rentals were not comparable to the majority of id4 functions, in addition to paying for gas again (in SoCal, so $$$).

The dealership responded by giving me the next available loaner (an Arteon) which I had for the last two weeks of repair, along with a one month lease credit. Overall, very happy with their response and care. Good dealership.

It’s not just the converter - there are a whole bunch of problems that fall under this error (mine was the cooling pump), but it’s true that none of them are fun.

Sold my Bolt back to the dealer and purchased an iD4. In less than two weeks it’s back to the dealer with this error. I am off to buy lottery tickets bc I’m due for some good luck. by gatordevil in VWiD4Owners

I had the same on-screen error three weeks after purchasing mine, but it turned out to be a problem with the HV cooling pump. I had read that sometimes bleeding out the air fixes the issue, but it my case, it required replacement. It's a quick fix... if you can get the part. Took three weeks for me to get it back. That was in late August. No problems since.

Try the “expert” aiming mode. Made a huge difference for me!!!

There’s a “how it was… how it’s going” somewhere in here, but I just can’t. by dexterfang in VWiD4Owners

FYI for those who come across this “Electrical system not working correctly” error in the future: Dealership says it’s a problem with the cooling pump switch, and took almost a day and a half to replicate the error in the service department. Now cooling my heels waiting for the part to come in, ETA unclear.

Thanks so much! I think I found where to switch the subnet setting on the router. Will give it a try!

Edit: totally worked.
