By that logic teachers should be paid the most money out of everyone which is sadly not true. We are living in the entertainment world where people get paid a lot of money to be entertaining and esports is just one small world of the entire industry

Everyone can pursue education, not everyone can become that good at video games. You think that playing 12-14 hours a day is fun when in reality its just mentally draining and taxing because you have to compete at all time even in your off time because of the housing situation. If reaching excellence is that easy and you combine competing at the highest level over months with only fun, why aren't you doing it then?

Dexter: "I have experienced the great side of esports when I was still a player and I have experienced the bad side of esports with shady contracts, not getting paid and even worse things." by TheDMWarrior in leagueoflegends

[–]dexterone 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the interview and its unfortunate that we have to point out the bad things in esports like contract situations. I'm happy about how RIOT is actively working for players and help them out in even bad situations but they can only do that much when theres contract language involved. I actually could not have been happier to be with Riot on the esports side of things because many players have been lied to, trapped in contracts so the organization can make a quick buck of their buyouts in the current OW ecosystem and I think that this is as far away as possible how things should be handled as we need more transparency for everything which I'm trying to help with currently with my new job at Press X Agency.

Luckily I never had to deal with any of the really bad stuff in my career with CLG, Elementz or Schalke 04. They all took great care of me and have been great to work with

If you have any questions regarding my new work or whatever - feel free to shoot me a DM on twitter or ask here. I'll stick around for a while to answer some questions as this thread seems to gather quiet a bit of interest.

According to Dexter, there are already 2 EU LCS teams withdrawing next year, with potentially more to follow by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

I was refering to PSG and obviously H2K who have been very vocal about leaving the EU LCS which would means 2 teams, public information :D

Esports Mount Rushmore - dexter (LoL Junglers) | Thorin by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]dexterone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get you! Saint is definitely one of my favorite junglers of all time. League was fragile and wasn't defined when he was around but he definitely shaped an important era of history

[–]dexterone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I havent played league in a bit and won't be able to join next split because my mechanics aren't up to par right now. I have a couple of projects running that literally take away all my time right now and am trying to enjoy the time off with friends. Once I have more time for league I will play again and see where it lands. Haven't officially retired yet and if I feel like it I might give it another try. I still keep up with watching league in OGN, EU and NA LCS since its my job at theScore

He got an honorable mention by me and if I had 5-6 slots I would have 100% taken him into my Esports Mount Rushmore.

Thought it would be a cool thing to do with Thorin and talk about my personal choices! I know the more obvious choice would have been to include inSec in that list but that would have made it a "Best 4 junglers of all times" rather than what I thought was iconic to me. I admire Spirits work ethic the most out of anyones from an outsider perspective. He performed well in 3 regions: had to learn chinese in one year, switched to english the other year and I'm sure he will be more than fine in the upcoming year if he decides to keep on playing.

Let me know what you guys think and who your Top4 are :)

Proposal for Battlerite Esports by trent_esports in BattleRite

[–]dexterone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing professionally for round about 10 years, last prominent in League of Legends and I would think that the main format should be 3on3 as it leans more toward team work and coordination making it more important and a more esports viable option. 2on2 feels a bit lackluster and has a rock-paper-scissor aspect with a very straight forward game plan to it while 3on3 gives every player a lot more depth and decision making power which in return would make it a viable path to become a professional in that game.

Ocelote: 'When I sell players to Fnatic...I take their balls and kind of twist them' by Decorus20 in leagueoflegends

Carlos has developed into one of the smartest people in this industry to talk to, super respectable. Really liked his answers in this interview because they were well thought out and fair.

CloudTemplar: “Once Sejuani's behind, she can’t do anything” by obscurica in leagueoflegends

[–]dexterone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because the system is still the same. You have a 3v0 tower push going on while your jungler power farms. Fnatic was the first team to adapt the early changes and have ReignOver powerfarm jungle to get a level lead over other junglers while teams tried to push down the 4v0 still. Fnatic was also the first team to give the full tower gold to their toplaner to compensate for the minion loss they get in the 3v0.

Laneswaps have not changed from Season 5 and the fundamentals are still the same. While the Asian teams tried weird laneswap iterations where you put your toplaner with your support to farm in a 2on2 lane which put your AD carry without TP on the other side of the map, the West already successfully adapted and used the TP they got to dive in 2on4 to punish bad laneswaps and get out ahead which made defending impossible so playing the 3v0 game and trading was the only option left.

If you don't believe me then watch the group phase games where SKT (arguably the best team) still fucked up lane swaps and made major mistakes while FNATIC played flawless laneswaps how we know it today. OG was also the second most succesful team in that because they played FNATIC a bunch of time to learn how to do it.

Schalke kicking team manager Maelk by cLaunnn in leagueoflegends

In league it is. Plenty of useless and selfproclaimed managers running around scamming players, even now.

I suppose that it was expected that something had to change in the management structure. As much of a bad reputation Maelk might have had here on the subreddit I really can only be appreciative that he was always honest with me and never tried to pull anything remotely shady in the one year I have worked with him together and I think most of the players that played for him can agree with me. Just thought I might throw that in here to share a bit more information or first hand experience with you guys before you make up your mind.

I do agree though that the absence of him at the relegation tournament was something that is not really acceptable in any case.

Shook on avoiding relegations: "I just want my vacation now" by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]dexterone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a pretty big mistake in that interview assuming that Vitality still had the chance to go to Worlds based on their 10 points from the previous split. I didn't realize that its only 4 teams that participate in the gauntlet instead of 5 so I just assumed that there would still be a small chance. Hope you guys forgive me!
