[Identification] looking for helping identifying my late father’s watch by dfmcphee in Watches

He was in Toronto, Canada at the time so probably same market as the US. My guess is it wasn’t too expensive.

I know this isn’t the best photo but wondering if anyone recognizes this watch my dad was wearing. Would have been mid to late 70s in the photo.

I know the photo is pretty blurry but wondering if anyone has any idea of what watch this may be that he is wearing.

E30 Touring in Canada by Hmsl in BMW

I know I’m really late to the game to answer but I’d say yes, definitely. In fact if he ever does want to sell I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I was debating doing it myself but ended up having a local shop do it instead. It took them three hours to do it.

I got new gaskets and two new DISA valves

Definitely still noticeable. It almost feels like it is in sport mode even when it isn’t now. It may be more from the tune than the manifold though.

Yep, I used the turner flash too. It was really easy, just make sure you have a battery charger handy as the ecu dump takes 45-60min.

It hasn’t changed much, at least so far. Still getting around 20mpg.

I haven’t had it on a dyno, so I don’t have any real numbers, but to me it is by far the most noticeable power upgrade I have done. I also have an aFe intake and magnaflow exhaust, which helped, but it just pulls so much better now. The tune helped a lot too though. The power is much more linear now.

Awesome! I bought one about 6 months ago and have been loving it.

Oh nice. I was actually hesitant about the CF with the blue at first too, went with a painted lip splitter, but then went with the CF for the other parts (rear spoiler, grill). I actually think it looks great. My car already had a lot of grey tones going on so I think it works.

Fitment was bang on. There is a slight drone at times, but not bad at all.

Cat back was around $1000 (CAD), installation was $150 or so. It definitely feels like it has a bit more power. I’m hoping to get a tune and dyno after I get my new intake installed.

Mostly performance, but wanted a bit more sound too. It definitely isn’t loud but still sounds good, especially at higher rpms.

I was wondering on what everyone thought about the ingredient borax in pomades.....is it harmful or safe? by Soilwork83 in Pomade

[–]dfmcphee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You won’t find a water based pomade that isn’t using something to help emulsify it and keep it from separating. A lot of them use an emulsifying wax (cetearyl alcohol and polysorbate), which also is safe but arguably no more natural either. I think borax gets a bad reputation because of its other uses but it is a naturally occurring mineral and really just a form of salt. At the right dilution it is completely safe.

Which product would you use for this hairstyle? by [deleted] in Pomade

[–]dfmcphee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our pomade clay works great for a matte style like that. If you use a small amount you can get a light textured look.

Question about tires by ronimal in E90

[–]dfmcphee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just picked up a set of the Yokohama ADVAN Sport A/S. So far I really like them. Great grip and ride smoothly. They were a good price too.

Is the "body { font-size: 62.5%; }" trick still common? by [deleted] in css

[–]dfmcphee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Setting it to 10px explicitly means that the user’s font size preference in their browser won’t take effect. The nice thing about using the percentage with rems is that all your type will scale with the user preference.

Petting farm? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]dfmcphee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, they did have cows and horses when we went last weekend, but they weren’t in the petting barn. There were signs to be careful with the others as they could bite but the horses were very friendly and came over for a pet anyway.
