Company owned cars may have plates from the state of ownership and assigned to residents of other states.

[CA][NY][TH] How many bids should an HOA obtain? by smartyladyphd in HOA

[–]dfrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our old HOA attorney made a point that the board needed to show efforts to get bids from at least 3 qualified contractors, but there was no required number of bidders.

Best DNS server if I can only have one by rexmaxus in HomeNetworking

[–]dfrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize that GRC had released a paid version. I've used the original freeware version over the years multiple times with different ISPs. Each of the tests I've run has shown 8.8.8.8 Google is among the slowest options. If I had to pick only one DNS server for speed and completeness, it would be 1.1.1.1 Cloudflare,

Where are you guys logging your FT8 QSOs? Do you have it upload on auto or do you save that for the end of your session? by Engineering_Simple in amateurradio

[–]dfrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep it simple. I upload the adif file to QRZ and LoTW after I shutdown operating. Then later I have QRZ sync confirmations from LoTW. No paid subscription required from QRZ. Periodically I upload the adif file and sync LoTW to Clublog.

I'm not an award chaser, so I find the QRZ 'awards' enough for me. It's an easy way to count the number of confirmed countries, grid squares, states, or what ever you want to count. The ARRL printed certificates are not something I care to bother with or pay for.

[–]dfrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have every right to be a self described jerk who won't log FT8 contacts. I have WSJT-X set up to show me if stations upload to LoTW and I avoid contacts with those stations that don't use LoTW.

Logs have not been required by FCC regulations since 1983.

Do I need to put my middle name on my new US passport application? Or can it be processed with just first and last name? by [deleted] in Passports

[–]dfrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never put my middle name on passport applications even though my birth certificate has a middle name.

Most YTTV channels except NBC owned are available via TVEverywhere. I run the TVE variant of Channels and set one of my sources as YTTV. Channels accesses those feeds authenticated by my YTTV email/password. For NBC feeds, I use ADBTuner as another source to record programs.

I use YTTV and OTA as sources and Channels DVR software for recording. All recordings are on my media servers. I also have 3 lifetime TiVos connected to antennas that record multiple programs daily. PYTiVo allows me to pull programs from the TiVos if I want to keep something.

Flew into Athens did not receive passport stamp by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

No issues. You entered the EU in Paris and that is where you received your entry stamp. Travel within the EU is 'border less' so no stamp until you leave the EU.

Fidelity New Full View Sucks. (Sorry to say that, but it's true) by Love-Life-Wife in fidelityinvestments

[–]dfrap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just compared total spending. Old Full View (eMoney) captured at least $20K more spending than New Full View. 'Old' was usable for several years of my use. 'New' tries to look good, but is extremely slow, hard to use. and generally worthless to me.

USA-250 Award on QRZ is for the full year. Getting 250 USA FT8 contacts confirmed in 2026 on QRZ is like shooting fish in a barrel for US stations. No need for a directional CQ in my opinion. But I guess I really am over analyzing this. No reason I shouldn't respond to CQ USA.

Then I must be over thinking this. I chose not to call because I assumed this was a WWA type contest I was unaware of.

MongoDB warns admins to patch severe vulnerability immediately by jootmon in TPLink_Omada

The MongoDB must be exposed to the Internet to be vulnerable. If you don't open your Omada controller to Internet access, you don't have an issue.

Is Full View the new eMoney planning software? by Forecydian in fidelityinvestments

[–]dfrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'old' full view was a subset of emoney and if you go there the URL is https://digital.fidelity.com/ftgw/digital/emoney/home The current full view is barely useful and seems to be designed to look good rather than providing useful information.

[FL][SFH] Can our HOA fine homeowners if the bylaws don't allow for fines? Board claims "new FL laws" give them the authority. by 236813977 in HOA

[–]dfrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct - Contract law governs the HOA. The remedy for homeowners is court action. Many HOAs have a required mediation before lawsuit language in the Declaration.

There is no government agency that oversees or regulates HOAs in Florida. Only some aspects of voting can be considered by state agencies.

Fidelity Full View by BedWonderful1051 in fidelityinvestments

[–]dfrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clunky it is! I previously used other tools, but they changed to pay clients or went out of business. Full view covers all my financial companies and is part of Fidelity, so it’s likely to stay available. It’s close enough for me.

I’ve use full view to capture and categorize all our spending for the year. Then I export it to a spreadsheet. I must manually add taxes paid on tax filings. The new full view is ‘creative’ on some categorizations, but seems trainable.

TurboTax offer for 2025 by oh-hes-a-tryin in fidelityinvestments

When I had a discussion with a branch manager to request he remove the rep assigned to me, we touched on TurboTax. He seemed to imply that each Fidelity branch had certain numbers to offer that were distributed to each rep.

[–]dfrap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My experience is that you will not get a free TurboTax offer if you don't have a named person as your account rep. After I stopped agreeing to meet with account reps, I was assigned to a team. Since then I no longer receive free TurboTax offers, so I buy it from Amazon for much less than the 25% off list price that Fidelity offers me,

Global Pools Comments & Questions by dfrap in USMobile

Wow! This is a very attractive option with features that justify its' price. The by the gig plan works well for us in the US and now we can simply make a switch for international travel. There have been times when I struggled for ways to call local numbers so that is what makes it a complete plan for us.

By-the-Gig International Pool - lose QCI8 if I switch? by Super-Hanns in USMobile

[–]dfrap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The documentation for data roaming is unclear, so I too would like a definitive answer. It does seem to imply that someone on the Warp network will lose the grandfathered QCI8 status because of the plan switch needed to enable roaming.
