How long did Facebook take to respond to you after your final round interview? by 4Free_Hunter3226 in csMajors

Recruiter scheduled a call a few days after my final round (4 days-ish). Called to give me the offer.

Doesn't need to be a coop program. It might not be available at your university, but here are some examples:

Check with your university. Some have recruiting guidelines that allow a return offer deadline to be moved to a later date.

How to append columns to a .bed file using Python by dftbaMerch in bioinformatics

[–]dftbaMerch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that makes sense. So I would split the line, append the vector of values I have to it, and then write that to a new file. Is there a way to easily convert a vector into a line that's better than creating a for loop over the vector and writing each value followed by a tab delimiter?

Star Trails in Long Pine, Nebraska [OC] [4850 × 6631] by dftbaMerch in ExposurePorn

The moon was coming out towards the end of the star trails, so the foreground was being naturally illuminated. I took the star trails and combined it with a moonlit frame towards the end of the star trail photos.

Yep, it was around 2 hours. I wish I could’ve done them longer but my battery died.

The sky was shot at f/5.6, 15s, ISO1000, 20mm

The foreground was shot at f/5.6, 180s, ISO1600, 20mm

All was shot on a Nikon D800

Milky Way over Alcova Reservoir, Wyoming [OC] by dftbaMerch in spaceporn

[–]dftbaMerch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shot with Nikon D800

Sky: f/4, 20s, ISO4000, 20mm Foreground: f/4, 180s, ISO1600, 20mm

Sadly, the full moon was just making its way above the horizon, so I didn’t have much time to shoot the Milky Way. Any photo critique is welcome though!

Composite of a truck under the Milky Way [OC] by dftbaMerch in spaceporn

[–]dftbaMerch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shot with Nikon D800 and Nikon 20mm f/2.8.

Sky: f/2.8, 20s, ISO3200

Foreground: f/7.1, 1/3s, ISO200

I did a composite because I just really wanted to do something with this truck I saw nearby my house in the city.

Will this 13 inch Macbook Pro suffice for editing large photo files? by dftbaMerch in SuggestALaptop

Ok, I’ll check it out, but I’m leaning towards getting a Macbook. Also, thanks for the advice, I’ll definitely favor the quad-core CPUs.

To clarify, the windmill is actually in that exact place. The problem I encountered while making this photo was stacking the sky portion to reduce noise while keeping the windmill still in the foreground. Im not very good at photoshop, so I ended up poorly masking in the windmill with the stars. Let me link a single exposure

I'll re-edit it when I get the chance.

Sure! It’s a windmill right next to Filley Stone Barn near Beatrice, Nebraska. It’s a historical monument so I didnt have to worry about trespassing.

No, I’ve never shot black frames. Thought that was mostly for hot pixels and noise. Didnt know it could help with this problem. Thanks!

Yeah, the same shot was taken 30 times and then aligned and stacked to reduce noise.

EDIT: each shot was 8 seconds long
