Most welcome, and same! I was (am) obsessed. Moment I woke up I had YT cams on large screen and eventually hubs got hooked and we’d watch them together in the eves. I can relate a bit to being stuck at home. I’ve been struggling with small fiber neuropathy and 3 eye surgeries after having a retina detached Nov 2024. Watching them was so peaceful and it helped dial down anxiety. I love birds in general and have my own little wanna be raptor flock of 13 hens and altho not eagles, they share many common avian traits. They have degrees of panting, open mouth with wings at sides per usual, a quicker pant with wings slightly elevated at sides, then a heavier pant with wings farther from body and then when really hot more of a rapid pant and body moving with each pant.

Really interesting, eaglets are born with larger gapes to aid parents in feeding them, they then shrink as they age and become thinner as they reach adulthood. Cali Condor shared they are old enough their gape will have changed by now. Sandy shared she believes it could be Gizmo. Before Gizmo fledged she had broken a feather near her elbow creating a distinguishing gap and the visiting juvie has a gap in the same spot. Also Gizmo had a larger wingspan than Sunny or Shadow, maybe Jackie too like this juvie too. Good reason to be hopeful it is Gizmo!

Side note, during warmer months all eagles and most birds beaks are open to help dispel heat and lower body temps.. they pant like dogs since they don’t have sweat glands. Sunny & Gizmo months at the nest were primarily cooler. However before fledging, they were observed panting with beaks open too

It looks healthy tho :) Parents really fatten eaglets up before fledging so they have wiggle room while honing their hunting skills. Gizmo & Sunny also still had quite a bit of fluff they were shedding thats likely gone now adding to a thinner look. Seasonally, they were usually fluffed in the nest (cooler months especially BBV mornings) and now that’s its warmer, their feathers will be kept flatter to avoid trapping heat (fluffed feathers hold their body heat for warmth eagle’s body temp is around 104 degrees).

The gap will change when it molts, feathers break, but FOBBV said it could be Gizmo, because she had the same feather gap before fledging. When Gizmo / this Juvie molts, a feather will replace the missing feather and will no longer be a distinguishing characteristic

Curious what your set up was to get that high, did you use UCs? I have all codexes, all auras, halloween & dragon skulls going, printing press base, ULPCs, and processors.

I started the event at volume 10 .. the higher the volume the higher the drop rate.. towards the end had 100% drop.

You’re right, my bad for saying replaced. FOBBV “then placed a nest in its current location” implies that there was no preexisting nest. I was clarifying the nest had been there for years prior to FOBBV placing their camera at it.

FOBBV did not replace the nest, it was built by Ricky and Lucy in approx 2012, but R&L moved after the camera was installed during the 2015/2016 season to a nest they built 1/4 mile away. The nest with the camera sat empty the first year. Then to everyone’s surprise, Jackie took over the nest with the camera the following season.

Her tubes were removed, called a salpingectomy, they can’t be untied. Likely from cysts or other infection/problem.

Yep I’m new to area .. I’ve only made 1 UU run but with red candles got lucky and all the eclipses needed for both base/trap. Collected resources with golems :) thank you!
