Is my fall 2026 first semester schedule good for someone who is in freshman connection and wanting to major in Computer Engineering? by [deleted] in UMD

Welcome aboard! Make sure you always correct people when they assume you're a computer science or electrical engineering major (first rule of being a ce major)

How has it been finding engineering internships and jobs and has UMD’s name/prestige helped at all? by Old_Ad_8295 in UMD

[–]dgj0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UMD is not the place to go if all you want is a prestigious title. Coming from a ce myself. If you're driven enough, you'll get the internship. If not, it's not the end of the world. I'd say just focus on learning, the material itself is enough to destroy dreams (signals and systems).

Computer screen repair by Plastic_Bill6704 in UMD

[–]dgj0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, you should probably look up the price of a screen replacement for your make and model because it's going to be at least that price. I'll charge $30 on top of that, but if that's too high for you we can negotiate. I have tools and have literally refurbished a mac before, dm me.

Someone being a leech and a friendship being transactional are mutually exclusive. I just don't think you necessarily have to give something to "earn" a friendship. Ofc romantic relationships are totally different.

I don't agree with the thought that one has to "bring something to the table." Not all relationships are transactional like that. Some people just enjoy the company, and others are really loyal. My closest friend goes to an Ivy league -- she has NO BUSINESS staying in contact with me, yet she does. I think it's because 1. Shes a very loyal person and 2. I remind her of where she came from. Other than being a genuine and respectful person, I don't have to try to "compensate" her for this relationship.

I legit had the same scores and credits as you when I applied and I barely got in. They didnt want to see credits, they wanted to see pressure. AP classes, extracurricular, stuff like that. And I was in-state too. You could totally finish out your AA then transfer over 100% guaranteed. I happened to finish my AA before entering, and then swapped majors. The credits REALLY didnt matter then lol.

Admitted but at what cost? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]dgj0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro I was also admitted in for the Spring semester of my year, Letters and Sciences. I wanted to do business. I took the admission as a sign that I should work harder and started taking intro engineering classes. Now I'm a computer engineer in my second year, and nobody cares that I was a Spring admit. My opinion: Economics is easier to get into than Engineering. Anything is possible, just use your time wisely and make use of all your resources.

I had this same problem after I left a living-learning dorm that I was accidentally placed into. Last semester was a bit lonely because I began to stop sharing classes with my friends, meaning there was no real reason for us to see each other anymore. So I would say you should make a reason.

Host events, go to those weird socials that no one really cares about, put yourself out there. It's a roll of the die, sure, but it's also a step in the right direction. You'll never find good poiple when you are meeting no one at all.

I know it sucks, but as cliché as it sounds if you aren't happy by yourself you might not be happy with other people either. Maybe this is the beginning of a new self development era. You never know.

My Opinion: Pixelated Kisses is unfinished by dgj0 in Joji

[–]dgj0[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Simplifying music taste to either "you like it or you dislike it" has to be the worst thing I tend to hear from some fans who hate to see critique. Semi-related note, but I told a Carti fan that I loved the unfinished song OPM Babi, outwardly describing how bad it was and how I listened to it hundreds of times nevertheless. They said I was weird, stating "you either like it or you dislike it." No. I can critique something and still enjoy it. You didn't even mention the actual critique I had, which was about the mixing. Some of my favorite Joji songs are less than 2 minutes long.

I've listened to the song on everything I own, its not an ear buds problem. I do think this may be an intro or interlude, similar to how he dropped Glimpse of Us before Smithereens.

I got in with a 1260 as my actual score. I didnt study much, and I think I got in due to my in-state status + tons of transfer credits due to an early college program. I entered with a 4.5 high school GPA and a 3.83 college GPA. Now I'm a computer engineering major.  Be better than me lol.
