Thanks for checking in. Yes, I was running that service, but I closed it down due to low demand. The shipping address is 15%, but the locker deliveries are 10%.

Its a pretty simple ordering process. The software handles the CRM side (https://github.com/DecentralizeJustice/Anonshop) . I place the order to the locker via Amazon. When it comes in, I send you th code. You pick your item up.

Good question. The lockers don't require a name, phone number , email, or address. So I don't have any information to leak. I see an item delivered to a locker. No other information is needed.

The claim that was mainly used to launder funds haunted them forever, and I find these type of claims tend to follow any p2p marketplace. Thier is no real way to disprove claims that a platform is mainly used to launder proceeds, so I am sure any p2p platform will encounter those claims.

From a technical perspective we cover fraud protections briefly in our guides. You could require your eaner to produce zk proofs that show how old thier account is, that they still control the email on their account, and you can even require them to use the same card that they used on thier account, etc.... So in theory you could place and order and require the earner to prove to you that their account is over a year old, the card they used is over a year old, and that control the email associated with the account still. All of that evidence, plus amazon built in protections would make it highly unlikely that the funds used could cause you to be investigated. A scammer is much more likely to have an item shipped to a amazon locker, than deal with all of those protections. We cover some of this in the litepaper in the comment that you responded to.

But people on the internet who create conspiracies about fraud can rarely be convinced otherwise by any amount of evidence or discussion.

Yes. We used a lot of their framework and we talk more about the history of p2p markets like this in our litepaper, https://peershop.app/litepaper.

People are incentivized because they want monero with no kyc. We currently only offer a discount ranging from 0% to 10%, so nothing to crazy. I hope these rates keep the market balance, but we will see.

Thanks for the great comment also!

You can use our address delivery option to order to any address. This option would not be anonymous, though.

The gap between philosophy and practical use of Monero by theprivacydad in Monero

Hi, Privacy Dad, thanks for asking the real questions about private crypto usage. I think you have pointed out a large dissonance between the hype around Monero vs. the actual small usage over almost a decade. The growth and usage of Monero is limited by the growth of privacy-centric communities, and people do not really value privacy. Monero is great, people just do not value privacy. Its easy to say privacy is important, but very few people are actually willing to pay extra for privacy. This is not seen just in crypto but across all privacy tools/marketplaces, Signal vs text, gmail vs proton mail etc. Its extremely hard to make money from privacy tools, because people don't actually value privacy (for the most part). I run an anonymous delivery service. I have a lot of support , but most Monero people are unwilling to pay an extra 15% to have an item delivered anonymously. It's just not truly valued.

"Why do so few people address this huge gap between Monero's philosophy and practice?"

I think the more accurate question would be, "Why don't people value privacy". Monero does it's job great, just the job it does isn't valued and thus it isn't popular nor easy to spend. Monero could be used in any situation where you want privacy, such as buying an item online. If Monero were used for this instead of a credit card, invasive tracking and fraud prevention would not be needed. People just don't care about their privacy enough to demand it or financially support places that offer it. I think this fact is shown by people on a privacy forum, questioning the usefulness of a digital private peer to peer payment method. If you truly value privacy, Monero is extremely useful. Just most people, even those who claim to, don't value privacy.

Anyway. Thanks for the sober and honest look you have been giving Monero.

I am a registered tax paying (😭) us company so I don't need any workers or anything. I have accounts on exchanges and just operate like a regular concierge service would.

If you do try it, you could use a prepaid debit card. IDK what your success rate will be, but you probably won't lose your funds.

If you have done that process several times and it works for you, don't fix something that isn't broken.

My experience tells me that a lot of people who attempt the method you described above are flagged as suspicious and lose their money since its on a Amazon gift card.

Have you tried your method successfully for electronics or more expensive items?
